Tank TDM(no air units allowed): everyone gets a starter Tank fit. If you die using a starter freebie tank you get a long respawn timer, like 30 seconds. If you use your own fit then you get a regular or a short respawn.
You can of course fight on foot if you want to.
There should be some maps specific to this mode, like wide rolling hills. Maybe two building complexes at either teams base, so foot soldiers have a place to run to or a central complex that is fought over.
No hills bordering running the edge of the map. Just some rocks and a plateau drop off. I don't understand why there are no maps like this, you know where all the snipers go, they are in the hills.
Air Battle TDM(no ground vehicles allowed): same as above
Throw in a few bridges for foot soldiers to fight over and use to attack from. |

I'm an avid tank driver but I'd like to see some maps that are indoor-only or very indoor-centric. Maybe where all the objectives are nestled deep within buildings. I used to play CS 1.6 and I liked the "corridor-shaped" maps with lots of cover and opportunity for tactical advancement. Maybe in this mode it could just be 8v8 with a very limited amount of clones to encourage conservative gameplay and teamwork. Always thought something like this could be fun for "boarding" if they ever add that. Allow capital ships to be boarded and the objectives would be the various modules on the corresponding eve ship. While I could see this for the players who just play casually, fighting and taking control of planets wouldn't really have "game modes" unless there was something like weather effects that grounded dropships (which still isn't really a game mode). I get the feeling this game is moreso for taking control of a planet with whatever means you have available. |

Actually it's been stated that High Sec will be about matchmaking and more traditional gameplay, Low will have the factional warfare etc, and Null will be where dustbunnies fight to control planets for whatever means they (or their employers) choose. There should be plenty of room in this game for "modes"
CCP has also said that in one of the first expansions there will be an arena mode, sort of a spectator blood sport thing. This would be a great avenue for crazy modes including maybe some unreal staples like that football mode they used to have? Who knows! Don't rule anything out. |

They said at launch there will be a PVE mode which will be a sort of survival mode against "rogue drones" which is a rough equivalent of maybe a zombie survival mode in other shooters. Rogue drones being the more fitting enemy lore-wise. |

Base skirmish
the map is a huge long underground "corridor".
near each end, but a little away from the spawn point is an objective, the defender needs to get to the other end of the corridor to seal the bases external shields, whilst the aggressor needs to get past the defender to power up the bases self destruct (or what ever).
Base Skirmish maps would come with variations based upon side tunnels. The main tunnel being wide and tall enough for quite a few tanks to drive down, side by side comfortably (apart from infantry cover objects). The side tunnels would vary in length and position according to the map, and some maps may have these tunnels burrow under the main tunnel or become open walkways running along and across the main tunnel.
Turret placement should favour direct fire(non-splash) weapon types facing down the corridor, with anti-tank guns at an angle to the main corridor, thereby limiting tanks to mobile artillery once the objective end of the corridor is near. All turrets are hackable, and covered by/faced with multiple side tunnels
Ample flanking opportunities, sniper positions and tactical maneuvering offset against limited/sparse cover, building into heavy fire fights at either end of the tunnel, with these firefights themselves being moderated by diminishing supply for the more successful team.
Successful teams will learn how to cover the flanking tunnels, set up spawn points to reduce supply problems, use covering fire from snipers and artillery AND defend the Objective at their native spawn point. But this will still not ensure a win ... a win being earned by having the enemy objective hacked, whilst under heavy fire, and holding it while the virus does its job
edit: bring on Friendly fire!! |

Oh wow, maybe I do need to lurk some more. Thanks for the insight. I do like the "blood sport" arena idea. I could see it spawning a HUGE amount of influence on the market with place bets. |

I just wish I was space-rich in EVE so I could be the one to start a major league of competitive arena players. Major alliances couldn't afford to hire the best mercenaries because they'd be under contract to fight in the arena for the entertainment of high rollers!

I saw during one of the presentation videos a CCP guy said that all the match information like locations of kills, loadouts etc will be recorded. I wonder if we will gain the ability to "record" a match much in the way a starcraft replay is recorded, so a special viewer can be used to watch the match. A corp could go into the business of editing camera angles and creating highlight reels perhaps. I see a lot of opportunity for player-made content if CCP provides the tools. |

I think that if you really want CCP to take any new "game modes" seriously then you need to consider how it can fit in with the eve/DUST universe lore tht they perpetuate. Basically wat I mean is there isn't going to be an all tank battle unless there is a reason to have one for example for the tank battle maybe these only occur on planets tht have constant superstorms with very high winds thus making air support unavailable. the only problem then is how do u get ur tank since an RDV has to fly it in to you? so anyway here is one of my own ideas for everyone to discuss. The name would be called "Chokepoint". The idea is tht your team is trying to capture a single point and hold it for oh say 4 minutes or until the other teams clones run out and maybe have like 100 or so clones per team. For example team a and team b would start at opposite ends of the map (naturally) at a building or base or drop in point or something, and there is oh say a giant space elevator smack dab in the middle with one control point. then the sexy lady voice would say something like capture and hold the control point until reinforcements arrive. Then game on try to capture the point and hold it for 4 minutes. |

callZ for honor: Everyone gets sniper rifles and knives and get pitted into tight spaces, corridors etc. To move you have to jump, every kill heals you and gives you damage / Health boost and the first who get a 15 kill streak wins. Oh and Zombies. |
