Just to clarify what UVT is supposed to enable and what you get for free:

UVT Gives you:

- Ability to voice chat in custom channels, DUST or EVE/DUST
- Ability to voice chat in corporation channels, alliance channels, ect.

UVT is NOT required for:

- Team voice chat
- Squad voice chat

Text chat is of course free everywhere.
Players can speak / listen to one channel at a time.

Keep in mind that price is still subject to change during the beta period.

Reminding again: there is completely FREE Team and Squad voice chat, completely FREE text chat for all channels, completely FREE in-game mail for all users - everything other console shooters have and more, for FREE... And, yes, of course, we are looking into additional options, offers, features, etc for UVT's.

Maybe you need to rethink the idea behind the Universal Voice transmitter as this is not xbox or ventrillo or teamspeak three. We here at the PS3 community specifically enjoy the basic functions of our game to be free. If you aren't going to allow us to talk unless we are on the same race or corp or whatever without spending cash on a per day/month basis. I can tell you where you can stick your Universal Voice transmitter!

i'm gonna post this in every thread i see about uvt:

CCP! if you would just change the voice chat settings to be open, as in opted IN by default, push to talk OFF by default, and in the team wide channel by default, then you would get a lot less of these.

nobody hears anybody 99% of the time because there are 3 seperate dumb checks on voice chat. so even if somebody figures it out, nobody else has. so they assume voice doesn't work at ALL, and get pissed.

Hit start and go to settings and turn on voice chat and disable push to talk (unless you like push to talk then leave it on).

Ask questions/learn before you falsely rant...

This thread is stupid. The pay for voice is for voice over the whole map. Like a loud speaker. ALL TEAM VOICE IS FREE. You only have to pay if u want to voice the enemy in a match. This is beta you reerees as in not complete. Once you can make squads and teams you will be able to talk to them just fine to free...

the PRICE of the UVT where it was before they all made it 1 AUR was bs tho

TEAM AND SQUAD CHAT THAT U GET IN EVERY OTHER GAME IS FREE

Maybe you have never played on the Xbox 360, where you can make a party and even be playing different games and chat to whomever and however many ppl you want. Granted I pay for xbox live but the price was far under what just one game (Dust) was asking for... If the price has change I am unaware. Due to the sticker shock from the implementation. I have no aversion to paying for things, Xbox live and Eve prove that, but I know when the costs out way the benefits. For the most part make me pay I go to a voice service that is a lot cheaper.

Right, well THAT is down to Microsoft, NOT the game designers.
Sony does not offer that feature, you can't do that on ps3. And please do go ahead and see if you can install an alternative voice service on ps3, if you can pull that off that would be a goddam miracle!
