I am really starting to worry about my PS3.
In the last couple of days DUST has forced me to turn my PS3 off at the wall, too many times to count.
The time before last (that i had to turn the PS3 off at the wall) my PS3 even asked me to set the date and time!!!
I really don't feel comfortable playing/testing DUST while this is going to happen. When the default system hard reset (playstation button) freezes up along with the program that has crashed, then questions should be asked.
I know that the PS3 is robust, but i'd hardly call it PSX robust, the PSX did not have a HDD, and to put the point mildly... i'd hardly ask you to turn your servers off at the wall several times a day, and see if they break or not.
I understand much is being done, but i'd ask that you at least fix the issue causing the PS3 to Completely lock up.
Bugs and program crashes in general are somewhat part of the process, but at the point where there is a risk of damage to our PS3 systems I think someone needs to make a call and sort the problem out.
As enamored as I am with your game, it is a pain in the ass to now have to think about not playing ... it just isnt worth the risk.
Australia DS3 (brand new PS3, bought just for DUST about 6 weeks ago....) |

You don't want your players losing their systems, that doesn't help you. I haven't had to completely restart my PS3, I've just had to quit the game a few times. On the other hand, I haven't played for more than about an hour at a time. How much are you playing before it freezes your whole system?
I play for well over an hour at a time, but I do not think that over heating is necessarily the problem, I take frequent breaks between matches to clean up around the house, or do gardening. In fact back when i first joined the beta last build, I was grinding alot more, and had never experienced any system lock up.
It is only over the last few days that DUST has started this whole locking up my PS3 shenanigans.
As to blaming the console over the game, the game is being designed for the PS3, to work within its limitations and standards. There are many many games already for the PS3, some of which i would categorically state, that are far more taxing on the PS3.
DUST is still in its infancy, it is still in development, its code is still being adjusted.
It is not a leap of faith to say that DUST is causing PS3 systems to lock up, the data speaks for itself. |
