in most other betas, very large or game breaking bugs (like invalid fits) or huge problems with gameplay (like bad hit detection) take a build cycle or two to get fixed. Four or five of the really big bugs haven't been fixed in SIX MONTHS AND THREE BUILDS
"but it's a beta!" does not cut it anymore |

IMO Sony n ccp should have had a dev with a good deal of experience handle the fps side of things, while ccp handled the economy, user interface etc..On top of the whole EvE integration thing ONLY |

All of the bugs i get now I didnt get in the E3 build. The E3 build was more of a presentation build, this build is more of a real test build. Deal with it or leave. Hmmm..... whatever you say |

Bugid E Aiba wrote:Hey guys......it's a beta. It's not your personal demo time, it doesn't matter that your ps3 froze, you got kicked or whatever, report it and move on. you are here to be a server load. Check out the game when it releases and whine about it then if you aren't happy. If not shut up and be a beta tester. Naw! Its more of an alpha. Of the Soon TM variety |

How about you do like the whole MOBA developers have been doing with their betas, fix the issues THEN release new stuff.
Just a thought.
And yes I hate the "its a beta" excuse, just cause its a beta doesnt mean that it has to be poorly done, thats what alphas are for, kid. Using Jenga is an appropriate analogy because stacking stuff on top of a mediocre foundation is exactly what ccp is doing |

The tech needs to be solid! I don't want more features if all it is going to do is brick my PS3 because they didn't solve issues!
Here is the cruz of the issue. People are taking too much for granted. People have been saying "Its a beta it will get better". For 3 builds.
Ok, its marginally improved, but we STILL have hard locks, lag, hit detection issues, etc.
Not to mention that the basic gameplay is a hot topic and we can't agree if its even fun!
Be constructive... LOL. I guarentee if I made a post about the issues right now, people would say "already been posted". So when I point out that the fix is nowhere in sight, they say "its a beta".
...
That makes it SO MUCH BETTER. I will just let the issues fall aside so we can have the front page plastered in freaking recruitment threads or dumb stuff.
No. I refuse. CCP's next build should be the "We kicked the **** out of every bug and issue" build. And that should be its name. I dont want new stuff until the tech is solid and bugs with the current build are fixed.
I like what your trying to do CCP but this needs updated more. A 6 week beta period is dumb. Negotiate with Sony to get daily patches or something. I don't want to brick my PS3 by playing your game That exactly what I am thinking. I have been here since April and the only thing I've seen get *better* is the frame rate and menu loading time. Something that shouldn't take 1/2 a year and 4 builds to 'fix' This game is waaaay behind and we don't have any proof that fixes are coming. Only wang saying, "be patient." I've heard this dog and pony show before and it was called Socom4. Oh, the community was just as discontent there too and the developer is now out of business. But changes are coming... Soon TM! lolololol |

Needless to say that they don't work. I love it when they say "its not an fps, its an mmo" when the premise of this game is in first person, with a gun, and shooting oppoonents! LOLOLOL |

Goric Rumis wrote:You know what you are? Shareholders. You're the people who want every quarter's earnings to be better than the last. And then after a few years you find out that those constantly increasing earnings were bought at the expense of long-term viability. In other words, the company went under in the long term in order to make you happy every three months. It happens all the time.
This project is a long-term investment. That means sometimes you have to deal with weak periods where it doesn't seem like things are going very well because they're setting themselves up for long-term success. And sometimes you don't see how it's supposed to turn into long-term success, because you don't have a full view of the strategy. But if you trust the management team, you believe in the potential, and you think it will ultimately pay off, you stick with it.
If these problems that just about everyone knows are problems don't get worked out, the game's going to be a failure. I don't believe CCP is okay with failure. They tried it once and don't seem to be keen on doing it again. So let them fix it the way it needs to be fixed, and if you're sick of dealing with the flaws then take some time off and come back in a couple months. The 'shareholder' analogy is perfect! Its a testament to why dust 514 is going to fail on console because 'shareholder' is the console gamer mentality fro the most part. |

Forlorn Destrier wrote:Arbor Viridanus wrote:Burger Helper wrote:CCP Cmdr Wang wrote:Gents,
We are aware that there are issues and bugs that need to be ironed out and should have been. However, we are still implementing new features and this is because of production planning, i.e. the need to keep building C&D after building A&B. We can't stop making new features and fix only bugs at this stage, since we need to keep testing new things that we introduce. That is the true purpose of the Beta.
Having said that, we will of course fix existing issues and bugs, but understand that we have to balance priorities against available resources. We do have a long list of bugs (many reported by beta testers on this very forum) and we are dedicating development time towards fixing them. oh, so priorities are towards putting in more stuff, not balancing it, and not fixing the big bugs? that does explain a lot It makes more sense to put everything in and then get the bugs out instead of putting some stuff in, getting the bugs out, putting more stuff in, getting the new bugs out, etc. This. As someone who works with software development, I can tell you that CCP's approach is right on. Remember, if they implement a fix for an issue today, there is not way to anticipate how that fix will interact with the other features being introduced. The best way to implement fixes to have a complete product first, so they know how everything interacts. If they dedicate time to fixing bugs now and then have to fix them again once a new feature is released, then the production schedule will not be met and we won't have the game as quickly as if they fixed bugs after the product was complete with all new features. I am not saying this as a fanboy, I'm saying this as a technology professional for one of the world's leading firewall companies. So basically what you're saying is is that this build is permanently screwed?! |

THCFORME wrote:I feel the issue is most of the feedback given here on the forums is always countered with this childish bullsh1t. Every time someone comes in with something to input they are immediately flamed by fgts saying, "its just a beta bro, you've obviously never played a real beta." So then those people, like myself, say you know what, **** all you guys and the horse you rid in on and just leave.
The reason the beta is how it is right now is those same people who are being gay and trolling those trying to post real issues here on the forums are also the ones nuthugging in the iirc chat. This is what i assume the typical life and conversation of a dust fanboy is in the chat.
"No CCP, dust is great how it is. It is perfect as it stands. There is no need to fix hit detection, or match making, or lag, or vehicle mechanics, or pay to win, or pay to chat, or constant hard freezing, or any of the other issues in this game right now. What we really want is to walk backwards in merc quarters and to have a new tank named after my favorite game of all time, Black ops. All these kids in the forums criticizing and putting down this game don't know what they are talking about, you just need to keep on adding new features and completely ignore the reason 75% of players play this game for a couple days and leave. They just don't understand what a great game should play like. Obviously since i have played eve everyday for the last 4 years, i understand what it takes to make a AAA shooter, and since they liked MAG and BF3, their perception of what a good shooter should be is flawed."
Everyone needs to get out of this "its just a beta" buttslit or thats what this game will continue to be... just a beta.
Dust could really be a good game, but the community is ruining not only the game, but the whole experience by trolling anyone trying to give decent input on the forums. If you guys are ok with what this game is now, thats fine with me. I was really looking forward to playing this game and supporting the community, but with the way the community has been, i could care less at this point if this game succeeds or fails (and i am starting to feel it will end up being the latter). Sony and ccp should have just bitten the bullet and paid for professional testers! |
