in most other betas, very large or game breaking bugs (like invalid fits) or huge problems with gameplay (like bad hit detection) take a build cycle or two to get fixed. Four or five of the really big bugs haven't been fixed in SIX MONTHS AND THREE BUILDS
"but it's a beta!" does not cut it anymore
That's exactly what I'm thinking. Also, it increases my worry that we have now moved into PS+ user beta land where the game is one build from release. "Precursor" comes before the main event.
I am worried |

CCP Cmdr Wang wrote:Gents,
We are aware that there are issues and bugs that need to be ironed out and should have been. However, we are still implementing new features and this is because of production planning, i.e. the need to keep building C&D after building A&B. We can't stop making new features and fix only bugs at this stage, since we need to keep testing new things that we introduce. That is the true purpose of the Beta.
Having said that, we will of course fix existing issues and bugs, but understand that we have to balance priorities against available resources. We do have a long list of bugs (many reported by beta testers on this very forum) and we are dedicating development time towards fixing them.
That is reassuring, Wang. Our concerns generally stem from how other companies have promised the moon and we get half done features with little polish. As a ps3 community, we have been burned many times before. You must know of all the 'preview' beta's out there. When we see big problems we can't help but get nervous about release and the current state of the game. I do sincerely appreciate your attention into our concerns though. Proof is in the pudding for us atm. |

J'Jor Da'Wg wrote:I love it when the fanboiz in this thread say "Be constructive". Ok. I have been constructive for the past 3 months. I have reported many bugs glitches etc. That said, when Cmdr Wang SAYS HIMSELF they are not focusing more on the foundation, Of course its bad!
The tech needs to be solid! I don't want more features if all it is going to do is brick my PS3 because they didn't solve issues!
Here is the cruz of the issue. People are taking too much for granted. People have been saying "Its a beta it will get better". For 3 builds.
Ok, its marginally improved, but we STILL have hard locks, lag, hit detection issues, etc.
Not to mention that the basic gameplay is a hot topic and we can't agree if its even fun!
Be constructive... LOL. I guarentee if I made a post about the issues right now, people would say "already been posted". So when I point out that the fix is nowhere in sight, they say "its a beta".
...
That makes it SO MUCH BETTER. I will just let the issues fall aside so we can have the front page plastered in freaking recruitment threads or dumb stuff.
No. I refuse. CCP's next build should be the "We kicked the **** out of every bug and issue" build. And that should be its name. I dont want new stuff until the tech is solid and bugs with the current build are fixed.
I like what your trying to do CCP but this needs updated more. A 6 week beta period is dumb. Negotiate with Sony to get daily patches or something. I don't want to brick my PS3 by playing your game
That exactly what I am thinking. I have been here since April and the only thing I've seen get *better* is the frame rate and menu loading time. Something that shouldn't take 1/2 a year and 4 builds to 'fix' This game is waaaay behind and we don't have any proof that fixes are coming. Only wang saying, "be patient." I've heard this dog and pony show before and it was called Socom4. Oh, the community was just as discontent there too and the developer is now out of business. |

Andrew Ka wrote:If you think the improvements have only been marginal, you're expecations/understanding are vastly out of whack. I've been here for four builds I believe, and each one has made considerable improvements over the last. The most recent one is probably the least advanced in terms of core functionality, but it had significant strides in ancillary things.
I'm not going to slam a development process that I'm not working on, because I don't like the order they're addressing issues.
Are we playing the same game? |

Goric Rumis wrote:You know what you are? Shareholders. You're the people who want every quarter's earnings to be better than the last. And then after a few years you find out that those constantly increasing earnings were bought at the expense of long-term viability. In other words, the company went under in the long term in order to make you happy every three months. It happens all the time.
This project is a long-term investment. That means sometimes you have to deal with weak periods where it doesn't seem like things are going very well because they're setting themselves up for long-term success. And sometimes you don't see how it's supposed to turn into long-term success, because you don't have a full view of the strategy. But if you trust the management team, you believe in the potential, and you think it will ultimately pay off, you stick with it.
If these problems that just about everyone knows are problems don't get worked out, the game's going to be a failure. I don't believe CCP is okay with failure. They tried it once and don't seem to be keen on doing it again. So let them fix it the way it needs to be fixed, and if you're sick of dealing with the flaws then take some time off and come back in a couple months.
What the hell are you talking about lol |
