Not only is it a cathcy little phrase, it also the truth! Those tumultuous 3 quick chirps sounded off for the umpteenth time, I hit the power button shortly thereafter, and to my shocking delight i see that yellowish led pop up!! Thank you ccp... your buggy client has claimed which was once a pillar of strength |

IIRC, there's a clause in the agreement you hit "X" to accept to every time you play that says you understand that this is a beta and accept any **** it throws at you.
If it's any consolation, it also says that if the game damages your console, they'll compensate you up to $50 which'll get you... not another PS3 :v |

It might be a coincidence, the inferior cooling paste (or something like that) of your ps3 just might have lost its last bit of cooling effect leading to overheating of the processor and stuff. . . But honestly i thought that the problem was more or less resolved in the ps3 slim edition . . . unless you have a fat lady of course, then it wouldn't be surprising at all . . .
aah the shivers remembering how i once said: "Let's wait how long it will take until the ps3 got his own red led of death" on a certain forum . . . was before the ylod appeared but well, was sure extremely unhappy when my own ps3 had also it's own ylod. . . So i am feeling for your loss saiibot - nonetheless i cannot find a site that says that the ylod is specifically triggered by this one thing or that one thing . . . i got my first ylod while watching Anime, the second while . . . dunno . . . playing something . . . Doesnt matter really . . . out of interest, where your cooling fans quite fast on highest rotation, even if the ps3 wasn't doing anything cpu-hungry, like idling? |

Let me guess? Your system was a 4-5 year old Fat 40, 60 or most likely the 80 gig model. I bet I am right and I bet Dust was not the reason. Fear not if you know how to use screw drivers a heat gun or an oven you can find lots of DIY youtube videos that really do fix almost all reasons for the YLOD. |

My old fat ps3 was making a lot noise when ps3 is using a lot of power, especially when playing online. I bought a ps3 slim, solved. Sold my old ps3 to a friend for a 100 bucks. |

My ps3 is literally on its last legs.....somehow won't let me play PES for more than 3 minutes but lets my play Skyrim flawlessly....I'm worried about the hard freezes as is my mate. It's survived the pummeling the server client has thrown its way so far. How long can it hold out? |

Considering how the -only- times I ever, EVER see you posting on these forums, you're complaining about something - SUX2BU. Honestly with your constant complaints about literally every aspect of this game, I don't personally believe that you got a YLOD, I just think you want to troll. |

Its nothing to do with the DVD....my system has been put through its paces believe me. Lets just say smoke has alot to do with clogged fans and overheating on 2 previously owned systems. I know how durable the PS3 is and I still intend to play Dust till the thing blows up in my face.

Just don't play till they fix it. CCP is obviously aware of the issue, now it's up to them to resolve it. It's kinda hard to test a game that doesn't run so why bother. |

If you have an older model PS 3 with the original lead free solder you can risk YLOD with hard freezes. The machine can overheat.
If you absolutely have to keep testing the Beta on this build before hard freezes are solved, make sure to back up all your game save data, especially if you have characters, etc. in other games you have worked for and would like to save.
Like everyone has been saying, keep your machine well ventilated and if you get a hard freeze you are basically done for the day. Unless you want to get a new PS 3. Then by all means run the old one into the ground.
Same thing happened to me, but in the end I blamed society... |

However Dust 514 is not the only thing that can cause YLOD. |
