What are you? Are you a call of duty player or GAMER? A call of duty player is usually a casual video game player who plays COD and nothing else. You might catch him playing another popular game like Madden 13 or Halo, then back to COD. A GAMER plays all games no matter what platform or what controller, or mice or keyboard or phone. A GAMER is hardcore. He doesn't play a game for one hour and then judge the game badly because it's not call of duty or Halo. A GAMER plays rpg, fps, sports, mmo, action, adventure, and etc. This is my opinion. Are you a GAMER? Or are you a call of duty player???? |

Why does it matter what a "Gamer" is to you or anyone else? Can we talk about DUST514 on this forum? Take this stuff elsewhere. |

Nothing really matches up to the level of competition and replay value an FPS game offers. Having little interest in single player games or other genres of games does not make one any less a gamer than a guy who plays everything.
Also, you can teach any degenerate to be good at most genres of games but some people will simply never have the reflexes or hand-eye coordination to accel in an FPS. So it makes little sense to me that you choose the most popular of the most competitive games to single out and say "if you play this and only this you are not a gamer."
I find that I tend to get completely sucked into playing a single game at a given time and find little interest in other games for that span. |

Sorry to burst ur bubble but technically a gamer is anyone who plays a game. COD is a game, even if you don't like it.
Myself, I've been gaming since I was around 5, I'm 21 now, soon to be 22. Played on almost all gaming systems from super nintendo up, I can't recall playing atari specifically so I'll leave that off of my played list. Though personally I think experience in super old games means very little because they were so simple. Used to go to arcades and game all the time, used to run around gathering friends to play multiplayer golden eye & mario kart. Used to play Diablo 1 and the first starcraft and was hacking diablo at the age of.. oh hell, can't remember, but really young.
I've spent far too many hours playing video games, kind of regret it nowadays with my impaired vision from sitting inches away from the television while gaming for so many years (my dad always warned me) and my lack of skills in other areas. Though nowadays I can play very casually and still go toe to toe with the best, or play around gimping myself for lawls and still be able to compete in pubs. I've considered competitive play but that takes more dedication and time than I can care to give nowadays, I don't know how some veteran gamers can rack up 2000+ hours on a game so easily, I barely get past 100 hours of a GREAT game and get bored.
COD Finest Hour was my favorite online shooter game on PS2, I thought it was the bomb.. looking back it reminds me of COD4 without killstreaks. COD4 was a great game IMO but I think it would've been better without killstreaks. Every COD afterwards has been trash in my eyes. My fav FPS ever so far was probably Warrock on PC, it was a free FPS game and I was playing it for a couple of years.. giant maps, tons of vehicles, regional server selection.. bad graphics, but tons of fun. I believe it's still alive and kicking to this day.
Final fantasy tactics on PS1 was the bomb, I was far too excited when I saw it was available for PSP and with more content. One of my all time favorites.
Fun times, so yah, I consider myself a gamer. |

I play COD to, but it's not the only game I play. I talk to my cousins and they say they won't play a game like Dust because it's a Si fi game. They would only play cod lol

In that case I guess I'm not a gamer and that's just fine by me. A lot of platforms are junk and to me, there's only 1 or 2 games a year that really stand out, I don't bother playing the other ones just because they're games. I don't play COD either, though I gotta say, CS:GO looks even worse. It's a strange moment in time when F2P FPS are looking better than retail games.
