I have spare controllers for both. I went out and bought the Madcatz MLG Pro PS3 controller that's shaped EXACTLY like the xbox controller but I found the sticks to be too stiff. I am going to start on this this weekend. Fell free to post your progress. This blueprint seems to be real easy to understand as well. I'm a electrician so this wont be a problem for me :) |

Cheers mate. I made it for house of the dead. I have an unreleased version with a cover at the top that you can use with your thumb for reloading. That way its possible to dual wield. Its not perfect yet, thats why its unreleased... |

Why would anyone use or want to use a clunky xbox controller? Xbox gen 1: Clunky, unweildy, poor design made with Shaq sized hands in mind, not to mention the system itself was/is flawed and void of quality design. 360 Gen: A step forward but awkwardly placed buttons and control map with a reduced size only decently functional to avid/diehard microsoft fans, still devoid of quality design. [cheap plastic]
Compare that to the standard playstation controller which has NEVER changed design since the itteration of Playstation classic aside from silly motion/heat sensative gimmicks and the addition of analog joysticks.
I'll stick with the small and simple controls. |

The xbox 360 ergonomically fits the players hands. And It was designed for FPS games in mind. I'm not knocking the DS3 one bit. I grew up playing with it. But there will be some xbox fans coming over to DUST that have a hard time getting used to the DS3. Some of my friends currently are having this problem and there is nothing wrong with it. It all comes down to preference. Personally I would enjoy the shape of a xbox 360 controller since I am a avid xbox gamer or should I say was because of DUST lol.
P.S. And please everybody don't start the childish argument about which console is better, once again its about preference. |

sorry bub, but the 360 controller is universally adored as the best controller this gen by a good margin. it just feels really nice and has a great layout
i'm quite tempted myself to try that mod posted above. how involved is the soldering? i'm concerned that the leads from the main board will be super tiny and difficult to work with

I am going to start it this weekend and will make a video and take some pic's of it and show and help the others to make one as well. It shouldn't be hard at all. Just need to have a steady hand and some some common sense.

don't jynx it man, these controllers are built to be cheap and compact, a deadly combination for modders.
try to set the camera above your workstation looking down, and put it on youtube at 1080P, maybe at higher speed for most of it to save on upload space and video size |

It cant be too hard. One time I bought some new analog sticks for my xbox controllers of ebay for 50 cents each. Then I tool my all my controllers apart and replaced the analog motors. It was a lot of soldering but I got it done and they all worked perfectly. The only problem is that if you make a mistake it will cost you lol. I would recommend buying some off ebay cheap to work with. If I'm successful I may sell them on ebay to a few DUST players for just the cost of the hardware and shipping if it doesn't take too long.
