Ok before the wipe I loved the tank. But after their soo expensive. I have to run something like 5 missions just to get 1 tank. But I'm still putting my sp into them because I want it to pay off. So far I got large turrets upto 3 and trying to focus on missiles. Because before the wipe it seemed the only half decant weapon going. And before the wipe I did manage to try them all. But what would you guys recommend? At the moment my tank is slow as heck but I don't want to put the carbon fibre body on as it reduces armor.. Next I'm going to work on electronics and mechanics so I can start putting in the CPU and power upgrades in. But I'm not to sure about the tanks that cost over a million. Will they ever pay off for them selfs? Before the wipe once I managed to get almost 30 kills and that netted just over 400 k. Would it really be worth getting a tank that cost over a mil if its almost impossible for it to pay for itself? Or is it a blueprint and only need to get it once? What do the real experts things and recommend I should do to be a true tank driver?

Other then when i derp up, I make 100k a match with my tank and not die. So i can replace my tank every 2-4 matches. |

Higher ups, potentially, they have higher HP, higher CPU and power grid, and more slots for items (except the black ops which is designed for a completely different role) so the marauders are especially effective front line crushers. Most significantly the better tanks are for PVP where you need the most edge you can when your against another tank with pretty equal firepower xD |

If you're good with a tank, you can keep them alive more often than you lose them.
If it takes 3 or 4 matches to earn back the cost of your tank, then you just have to make sure you're only losing one every 4 or 5 games.
Logic.
Also, as a few people have mentioned, player contracts will be much more valuable. Other people, whether in DUST or EVE, will hire players to fight for (or with) them, and they'll pay a lot more than the current NPC contracts do. |

Make note that on a monthly basis a planet can yield 100 million isk, supposedly up to 300mil, now think of it this way "you can pay for a fully tweaked marauder for 4mil" |

A tank is not supposed to be cheap and never should be made to be easy to buy. It's a bloody TANK! CCP is trying to go for a level of realism here, a foot-soldier should not be able to just call in a tank every damn battle, they should be a precious resource that is brought into a battle only as a last resort or to secure a key position. This is all in preparation for when we are going to have to manage our resources wisely as clans to take over and control bases and planets. Also, how much fun would it really be if every damn person had a tank? Also, in response to those who say tanks are OP, again, it's a ****ing TANK! I very rarely use them myself and have had to go against them repeatedly so I am not biased one way or another and when I think about it, logically speaking a machine gun should not do any noticeable damage to a armour plated TANK. |

Do not get a Marauder tank at the moment. They are incredibly expensive, offer no substantial leap, and unless you have high level armor/shields modules, do not bother with them. A well fit Tier One tank is better than a Marauder in terms of value, and cost to maintain. |

I LOVE when enemy players call in tanks! I've trained spec for AV grenades and I love when I see a players tank coming on a drop ship close enough for me to drop a nano hive and lob av grenades to destroy the tank by the time said player gets it fully loaded with his buddies. It's supposed to be slightly OP, it's a TANK. You just have to think and plan your attack, makes the game that much harder and thusly more interesting and fun. With that being said, if you get into a game with 3 enemy tanks on the field at one time it can get frustrating, but still playable given the right strategy. The implementation of AV mines would help even the field in the fact that you could heavily fortify a "safe zone" for players to spawn and if it's your drop point you get the added bonus of people using your spawn point and the kills from destroying tanks trying to invade the area. I do wish the controls for the AVs was a little better but this is still beta and could change. Buttons for forward and reverse would be nice, leaving the left stick for steering and the right for the gun/camera would be great since the LAVs are so twitchy that players often spin out while trying to make minute directional adjustments, just my opinion though. Love this game, can't wait for full release! See you all on the battlefield! |

This basically. I've been in many battles that feature tanks now and they usually don't tend to be destroyed. If you use them and use them well you'll go double digit kills with no deaths, easily enough to buy yourself a good tank every five matches or so. Which is honestly the way it should be. You shouldn't be able to have as many tanks as you want. Also bear in mind that upon full release money will be much more plentiful. |

When I see high costs on HV and LV costs I think of NPC contracts vs Corp Contracts.
Sure NPCs don't pay out much however, in Corp contracts you may make enough for a TON of tanks assuming you win and assuming the corps are high dollar corps in Eve.
I like the fact that people can't deploy 10 tanks after 1 good match. That fixes the OP tank we all saw before this latest wipe.
It also makes tank drivers understand that this is your tank don't just go and get blown up for the hell of it because it costs 2 isk to replace. That makes no sense to me. Imagine in Eve if you could just say "aww frick blew up my Titan again. Guess I'll just buy another one for a mill....."
Perhaps it should be (if it isn't already) if you die you lose the tank if the tank is alive at the end of the match you get to keep it for next map. All the sudden people are relying on ground units to keep the tank alive to bombard the bases and or targets like in real war. That is better in my opinion of course vs ARRR I'm a tank! let me charge into 50 people and see what happens. |
