I've been having an issue with slow, slow, slow turning with the mouse. Not zoomed in, in a Scout suit with a Pistol or SMG equipped, being shot or not. It will take forever for me to turn. I have the mouse sensitivity set to max in the game options and on the PS3 its self. Moving the mouse like a mad man I can barely turn.
Is there some setting I'm I'm missing to increase turn speed? I turn faster using the PS3 controller. |

do you have a mouse with variable DPI ? i am using the logitech g700 and i have to make sure that dpi is set to maximum in order to turn fast (g10 and g9 button to adjust), when sniping i switch to 2 levels below maximum, with that i need to wipe my mousepad about 17 times to do a 360-¦ turn |

I don't have a variable DPI mouse. A shame my mouse works fine for everything else. Guess I'll look into a variable DPI one. |

I tryed using my mouse and keyboard. I am using a razer death adder with 1800dpi. I am having turn speed issues as well. I should be able to turn as fast as the game will let me but its slower than the ps3 controller. It seems that the faster I move my mouse the slower I will turn . |

I have and will forever use a Logitech Trackman Marble for my mouse....its scary how slow I turn when I can turn on a dime in anything else. This is even with the sensitivity maxxed.

You dont think it's some lame way to make it more difficult for mouse/keyboard users when set up against controller users?

Not at all.
Just marking that this is one of the many features that need adjustment.
I am finding different ways around it at the moment but it would be nice if stuff turned properly. |

I agree, the mouse turns way too slow. I took mine out for a test, and even at 100% sensitivity it was sluggish. |

5th topic i've had to say this stop being ********.
They capped the speed which you can turn with each equipment, scouts spin faster then heavies, stabalized railguns turn faster then normal railguns, just shut up and get over it, your not supposed to be able to do a 720 degree turn in 0.3 seconds. |

We've gotten a lot of new players over the past week, so let's try a response that addresses the concerns rather than dismissing it all out of hand and calling people censored names...
Yes, they've capped of equipment rotation speeds and made it so that hardware doesn't matter- BUT the mouse/keyboard rotation rate is far slower than that of the Dual Shock 3.
The devs are aware of this, though at least the times I've been in IRC discussing it, they haven't mentioned whether they are going to make any corrections as of yet.
Changing the DPI setting on your high speed gaming mouse won't change anything, it's the software capping it, not your hardware.
(IMHO) The intent of the rotation speed caps is balance on two fronts. It levels the playing field a bit between the m/k players. If the caps weren't in place, then that guy with a trackball would be spinning 180 degrees and putting rounds downrange in a half a second. The speed cap also balances equipment. Yeah, that railgun can pulp you from a hell of a distance, but it's slow to track a target, meanwhile a much smaller, less devastating turret can swivel much faster.

I think the issue would be better recieved if it was lable "Turning speed to slow" the DS3 turning speed is too slow. up the turning speed for everyone and everything including M/K users that way nobody gets and advantage and everyone is happy. Ie adjust the turning speed cap by 50% across the board.
People who feel the turning speed is too fast can lower the sensativity, people whio like it faster would have the option. Right now everyone is too slow and only the logi's dont mind because they dodge everything when standing still anyway so a 3 min 180 turn doesnt hurt them. the rest of us are dead M/K or DS3 controls. |

The whole idea of capping the turn speed of a player is ridiculous. Set the turn speed so it is comparable to other first person shooters. Giving each class and suit differing walk/run speeds and unique abilities is enough. Turn speed based on suit is just too much. If they are going to give us mouse/keyboard support, then do it like other games with it. Don't gimp it to make it "fair". M/K is available to anyone who will own this game, so if they want to use a controller and get owned, let them! This whole thing is basically the same as if they gave lower scoring players better weapons so the game is "fair" for them. |

how about immediate look but slower aim? Many games like wot have this system, it doesn't feel unnatural for mouse players (capping mouse speed *feels* wrong) but does not give them much advantage, they will just have to wait for the weapon to turn/aim before firing. |

Game is free so get a cheap KB/M. Is a KB/M easier? To me, yeah. I grew up playing PC FPS games. My good friend did not so he is not as good with KB/M. You did not really address the real issue here though. The fact that for some reason the KB/M support has been gimped compared to the DS3 support. As it stands now, I won't use the KB/M. I just want to be able to playthe game the way that is most comfortable to me, and you seem to think that it is wrong. |

Well it's not like I'll ever get ds3 (with the connecting Bluetooth keyboard) support on eve. Why? Because it's a pc game just like dust is a console game. Also you said that ds3 users should get owned, by what logic? |

By your own logic? You said yourself that M/KB is "easy mode". Were you ever promised DS3 support on Eve, a PC game? No. We were promised KB/M support and got a gimped version. Are you scared for us to get good KB/M support because you can't play well with a KB/M and you think you will get owned? Why do you even have a console if you're not going to use a controller? And yes it is easy mode as you can 720 turn in less than a second
Ps you can't pull the "you can't use my controller so you whine" **** on me as you're stepping into my system willingly. Get good on ds3 in my playing field and I'll use kbm on pc games |

You are making all sorts of assumptions about me. I will use a controller over a KB/M if they don't change the way it is now. I only game on my PS3. Right now I play BF3 a ton and use my DS3 to play it. The thing I am complaining about is the fact that CCP said they were going to give us KB/M support and they have given us a crappy version. If they decide to completely take the KB/M support out, that is fine. But as long as they want to give us the support, I will be wanting them to make it comparable to other FPS games (DS3 included) instead of the gimpy mess it is now. |

Well they gimped it to level the playing field, the mose is a lot more sensitive and it would be turning 4 times as fast as a ds3 with max sensitivity |

I actually played some today with my M/KB and it seemed to be a better experience. I think the turning should be just a bit faster still though. But as of now, the only thing holding me back from playing nonstop is the fact that the game is a bit jittery. The aiming (at least with M/KB) isn't smooth and the characters move like they are teleporting a half an inch at a time. Hard to get a bead on anyone. |

My experience differs depending on what mouse I use. I have a Razer Diamondback that is way too sensitive even on the lowest setting (couldn't keep a bead on a target, the slightest motion would make me overshoot). I thought about this for a bit then decided I'd try out a mouse with a lower DPI. If a high DPI mouse was making large jumps at a low setting, then a low DPI mouse at a higher setting should be pretty fluid. I'm now using a generic laptop mouse at a sensitivity of 40% and it is perfect.
It takes about 3 mouse swipes to turn a 180. That's my only hindrance, but it's only a tad slower than turning with the gamepad.
I'm ordering a mouse with a DPI switch tomorrow for more tests. |

I wish we could post videos of Dust so that we can show the difference between the movement speed of a mouse (max sensitivity) and the movement speed of a DS3 (default). I can make wide, two foot swipes with my mouse that will barely turn me but at the same time I can slightly tap the analog stick on a DS3 and get the same, if not better, turn distance.
It's far from a matter of Mouse versus DS3 or the turning speed being capped to match a DS3, it's that there is no advantage to using a mouse.
Actually, I take that back. I'm specced in sniping, and I use a mouse only to aim when I'm sniping. Because the aiming speed is so slow but precise, I use the DS3 to play normally and switch one hand to the mouse to zoom and snipe. After people are dead, it's back to the DS3. Other than that, there is no advantage to the mouse. |

Then perhaps the Dust devs shopuldn't offer the option. ATM the kb/m speed is bugged as 0 and 100 have absolutely no difference in sensitivity. In nintey percent of PC games you are able to use the controller so why not offer the mouse here?
Especially since you know... they said thats what they were going to do.

I think the issue is, CCP said they would offer M/KB support. But its currently so buggy that turning with a mouse it is either overly sensitive or super sluggish. So it makes supporting M/KB pointless. Now saying that since EVE doesn't support a controller that Dust 514 shouldn't support M/KB is just inane and comparing to unlike things. CCP said they will do M/KB, so I expe t M/KB to opperate at sufficient level not an insufficient one.
As for the previous comment about owning a magical device called a laptop, I own one as well. I hook it up my TV to play computer games like EVE. So I purchased a seperate M/KB for a total of $60. I dislike the ergonomics of the PS3 controller saw Dust 514 supported M/KB and want to use a functioning version. |
