Since the Precursor patch came out a lot of things have changed; some for the better, some for the worse.
PROS
1) A lot of terrain and movement glitches have been fixed.
2) Gear costs seem more aligned with how I always thought they should be.
3) New maps. I've been happy with the map design so far. There are one or two maps I personally don't enjoy, but the actual designs themselves are great.
4) Passive SP. Even if you can't play very often, at least you will be earning some SP during your downtime so you won't be left completely behind.
CONS
1) The Assault class militia fit seems pretty useless now when compared to other classes' militia fits. Since the Assault militia lost one of their add-on slots they seem rather lacking in general when compared to the other classes:- Heavy = high armor pts & powerful weaponry
- Sniper = long range precision attacks
- Logistics = ammo resupplier & rezzing
- Assault = ???
Look, I get that Assault is kind of a basic 'all-around' class but it really does seem pointless now when the damage per hit of an Assault militia is only a handful of points higher than that of a Logistics militia AND they have no special weapons or abilities that distinguish them from the other classes.
2) Skillpoints are harder to earn through actual battles and skillbooks cost waaaayyyy more ISK than they used to. My problem is that this is a double-whamey to the players. I'm fine with one or the other... but not both. Skillbooks have gone from being fun & rewarding to just plain tedious. This is my biggest complaint about the new patch.
3) The spawn system in Ambush mode still allows too much room for spawncamping. This issue doesn't really happen too much in Skirmishes, but it is still a frequent problem in Ambushes.
4) Lag. I know there a number of new factors contributing to this -- some beyond CCP's control, some not -- but I've experienced a huge spike in lag when playing Dust since downloading the Precursor patch. I know this is a patch issue because I've not had any lag with any other online game or activity on my ps3... just Dust. Lag was virtually nonexistent in the last patch, but this week alone I've had several times where the lag was so bad I had to just quit the game and pray that the lag wouldn't be so bad the next day.
5) Apparently we no longer have the option to totally remove an item from a slot that is already filled. In previous patches I would use that option to lower my CPU/PG usage in order to upgrade an item in another slot... For example, I would sacrifice my grenade & pistol for an upgraded armor repair unit... but that option is gone now. I don't understand why this option was removed since it grants some much needed room for customization. |
