Ayures II wrote:Took me a bit of digging, but I assume you're talking about this (and it's a few months old). It looks like CCP is planning on actually adding capacitors to DUST vehicles which is pretty cool and will add more depth to fitting. The way capacitors work in EVE is fairly simple: If you activate a module (shield hardener, certain types of weapons, remote reps, etc.) it takes up a certain amount of cap per cycle. If your ship regenerates cap quickly enough to compensate for the drain (via ship attributes or additional cap modules), it's considered cap stable and can run those modules all at once indefinitely. If not, your **** gets shut down. There are also cap neutralizers (drain target's cap) and nosferatus (drain target's cap and add to your own) in EVE, so we might see those in DUST, too.
I do notice in the article the Marauder info says "can fit siege module" and the dropship has a cloak |

Hmm that is an odd line; " If the MCC does possess an Achilles heel, it is its dependence on fuel, without a constant supply of which, its turrets, critical systems and, most importantly, shields are worthless. Commanders would do well to be aware of any and all fuel sources in a given area and plan accordingly."
Really not sure what to make of it besides cap the fuel depots to bring them down quicker. |

It does make sense as running fuel to POS was the big thing for years then. |

Peter Molyneux disease. "wouldn't this and this and this and this be cool?! You bet, now I just have to make it."
I meant that it was the big thing for the longest time in Eve and it makes sense that back then they thought it should be in Dust too.
Original Fable was amazing...
The other two were blah. |

However, it is my thought that MCCs will eventually be fitted with something like a Siege Module which bolsters its defenses significantly. However, like EVE, Siege Modules require special fuel beyond the usual capacitor energy, to activate and maintain. As such an MCC commander might have to scour the battlefield for fuel depots to keep the MCC's siege module active, all while bombarding the enemy MCC. It's going to be a balancing act between maintaining defenses and offensive capability to buy your ground forces enough time to help you finish off the enemy MCC. It's a distinct possibility. Yet for 0.0 fights I would imagine its ice based fuel to foster a relationship with the space players they are fighting for. Running from resource camp to resource camp seems like a bottleneck in dust combat.
Between the multiple other objectives it wold get tedious to have to hack more stuff on the map in skirmish.
Escape velocity is 11,000 m/s; Can any rocket scientists explain how the MCCs break orbit? Curious about this one, my eve frigate can go max 1,226 m/s so its ****** if it trys to land. |
