I love the various buildings in this game. The huge industrial towers, the close-in hi-tech compounds, the drab concrete slab low-rent structures, and so on. But does anyone know what the buildings are?
As I understand it, these buildings are all plug-in structures that will be purchased and installed in a territory by an in-game corporation (for low-sec and 0.0 planets anyway), which means these aren't random pieces of art named "future_tower_6" or something. They have purpose and function.
Is there a list? A wiki? A thread full of wild conjecture? |

I think this is going to be the thread full of wild conjecture. I had heard about the buildings being player-built too, but I haven't seen a whole lot of speculation as to the function of each building yet. |

I think I heard in one of the videos from FanFest last year that the big towers are "Biomass Processors". |

Nothing yet matey. not even us with eldritch knowledge and an obsession with fan fest videos know what CCP have planned for "conquest" mode or how the industry and the economy works.
All will be revealed. Soon(tm). Oh I do know that there will be no 0.0 conquest until 2013, faction warfare is out first. Afaik.
If they are using the eve release asa model. We probably won't see much of the market/economy stuff until well after release. It took 3 years for the market in eve to become fully player driven. |

Iteration. That's the key to longevity and success. No arguments or concerns here.
Which isn't going to stop the wild conjecture, of course.
Now, the big towers with the pipes sticking out of them are vaguely reminiscent of a cracking tower, and they have a caldari look about them.
The walled compound with the indoor rooms and bridges in the center of that ambush map definitely looks Gallente
The concrete structure with the Supply depot in the alley looks Minmatar to me, although I could be convinced of Amarr slave or Caldari indentured worker quarters
The storage depots are pretty self-explanatory.

Early 2013 good sir its not like we have the game and then have to wait another year before having a corp will matter.
i like to think of it as theyre going in stages like right now were testing highsec next comes low sec and faction warfare and then null sec with the players being left to their own devices and dreams of grandeur |

I doubt that these basic structures will be player deposited. If you look at the installations listed in Dust they are more likely to be turrets, CRUs, and supply depots. |

DUST514 will supposedly be closely tied in with planetary interaction. Now, if we look at EVE's planetary buildings, you may see a few things that look familiar.
I'm sure that isn't the full story, of course, but it's a start! |

I knew the various Auto Cannons and artillery were going to be placed according to each individual corp but are you now saying that we could be placing the large structures like the indoor room in Biomass and other large structures in addition to the auto turrets/cannons/artillery? |

My understanding is that once a territory is captured by a corporation, it can build large structures between battles to make isk, mine minerals for Eve, or possibly manufacture in-game items directly for sale on the market.

From what I gather some of them are production facilities. |
