I recently read about ranks and I had an idea on how to deal with it: By counting the War Points into Rank Achievements.
Ranks could be awarded by War Points. Each Rank will be in a certain tree.
Every WP needs to be linked to a certain category. Lets have some examples:
Revive, Repair and Resupply WP would count towards Logistic/Medic Rank
Kill and Assist WP would add to the respective Weapon Class Specialist Rank
Vehicle Assist WP and hopefully (SOONtm) Vehicle Spawn WP add to Pilot rank.
Vehicle / Installation Kill WP to Gunner Ranks.
Squad Leader Commission WP go into a Command Rank.
In further developement there could be combined ranks for:
CQC Ranks: Accounting Shotgun, Pistol and Knife WP (just an example)
Explosives Rank: RE and Grenades
Support specialist: Logistics and Hack
What I envision is a system of Rank achievements that unlock (and define) displayed ranks a Merc can choose from. So if you have to choose between the "AV Specialist" flying Dropship A and the "Master Pilot" on Dropship B I'm sure this WILL come in handy.
People could also lock their vehicles to certain ranks of Gunners.
In the end it is something similar to the Title System in most MMORPGS.
And there could also be factional ranks that unlock by playing in factional Warfare. There could even be a special Corp Skill that allows to define own ranks. Something like Merc Corp Chain of Command Skillbook. |

From what I understand ranks refers to your rank within an organization, such as a corporation or a faction (i.e. within the Amarr, Caldari, Gallente, etc.) and isn't like COD ranks in which it's like levels. You probably obtain ranks by winning certain battles or remaining loyal to a certain side rather than by fulfilling in battle objectives. |

Yeah I guess we will ahve to wait and see. But I still thinka combination of both loyalty ranks and skill ranks would be nice. Esspecially with the option to add in to the displayed name... or replace the first name with it. |
