How does one dodge the new SL which seem to be less agile but faster and more straighter flying rockets?

Easy, half the missiles head straight for the nearest structure or hillside when launched and that's when you can get a lock on because the target even slightly dips out of view, even if you track it, you lose lock and have to start again. |

so the SL has to actually guide the missile now by keeping the reticule over the target?? sry i was a little confused by your post. |

Ironically there are fewer vehicles to play with using swarm launchers at the moment, so it makes it harder to figure out the SL's bugs.
Near as I can tell you have to obtain lock with the target remaining in the itty bitty box the entire time. You can maintain the lock as long as the target stays in your field of vision.
Although this may just be the militia SL, it seems that the munitions themselves are a bit stupider and less agile. You still will often want to launch almost directly upwards or at a fairly steep upward angle to get the most out of the munitions' flight path. They are faster, but quite a bit dumber.
They will fly straight into terrain if you don't help them out a bit on launch. At very close range of course - such as when the LAV-fest is going on and you have hostile Jeeps tearing around everywhere, running people over and generally gumming up their suspension with dropsuit bits and innards - you will simply need to lock ASAP and fire either at their faces or straight up. |

You better hope that it's not a closed map with tons of structures, otherwise you're not getting many SL kills. They head directly for the target, so if you can get behind even the smallest cover, or head to a lower part of the map, they will miss and hit something else. |

You lose lock FAST when a vehicle breaks line of sight, including when you turn too far from the target while locked. Before, if you could keep someone with eyes-on-target, you could get line of sight, then hide while completing the lock as long as SOMEONE could see it. Doesn't work any more. Neither does getting the lock, then ducking into cover and shooting over or around it.
Also, to avoid SL fire, drop behind cover quickly, if there is any, the missiles are fast, but they're MUCH more prone to hitting obstacles than they used to be. |

It's the same using the militia as it is the prototype, just faster lock-ons and more rockets.
In order to lock you need to keep the vehicle inside the lock box and keep it there until it locks, then you can fire - the rockets have always been fire and forget. |

Im just saying I never had a problem hitting air targets once i got the launch sperarated and clear, ground targets only get away if they're high elevation most of the time. Also there is a nasty bug of launchers at close ranges not detonating on obstacles on impact, until this is fixed you as pilots should be weary of those who learned to take advantage of this. |

Sorry, I'm using the militia SL, don't remember the proto one being this bad to be honest since the new build but before the wipe, maybe it's just a case of forgetting how tricky the basic stuff is.
But yeah having to keep light of sight until locked is risky, especially with HAVs, but after its locked you can still duck behind cover and launch, but it won't keep lock indefinitely like the proto used to. |

That bug is nowhere near as consistent or reliable as it used to be, but it's still there to a small degree. |

yeah but the new behavior Ive been noticing on buildings is the rockets no longer get stuck either, they bounce now. |

I've noticed that while flying a drop ship ( been doing it Aton this build learning the controls ) If I see a swarm launch ( that's the key myself or a gunner needs to have eyes on it ) I can wait til it gets about half way to me and roll right or left and pull the fastest high g turn my ****** can make and sometimes I dodge about half the rockets.
Funniest thing that has happened yet was when a single swarm missile clipped me and spun me around and my gunner told me the missile that swung us around saved us from getting hit with a whole other pack of them lol |
