Alright, after playing with this more and skilling up sharpshooter skills the range reduction does seem prohibitive. The accuracy at the gun's current optimal is fine, but I do agree with Iron Wolf that we should be able to hit stuff like tanks, lavs, etc. at 200 to 300m out. |

at 200 meters you can barely hit a dropship parked on top of a tower. So... I think 300 - 375 + skills sounds a bit more reasonable as that would reach from point charlie to the hillside in broken valley as well.
Its also very hard to say tanks got nerfed when the AV field isnt filled up, most people are still only running around in milita swarm launchers and noting much else. |

I had zero problems getting sniped with forge guns in the prior build.
Want to know why?
because you cant zoom or aim down the site with the forge gun. It took a keen eye and skill to snipe some one from a tower or hill side with a forge gun. The power of the forge gun and its range was an excellent counter to marauders, especially the gallente one with the blasters, considering you could out range them.
Nerfing the forge gun was completely unecessary. They were excellent for removing enemy instillations. |

The forgegun is a modified mining tool. The idea is to walk through rocks and cut a path at a rather close range to a mountain side. Thus the tool doesn't have to be accurate at range as miner are typically pretty close to their intended target... a mountain side. It is not going to be accurate from a far distance as it was never meant for combat. It has since been modified for combat, but still retains its core features of close range, inaccurate, and totally devastating to anything it hits.
It is not fun to be sniped by 3 forgegun users while you sit in a tank 200m+ away. But it is fun to ambush a tank as it rolls by a control choke point. Stupid tanks should not fall for a forgegun trap. |
