Well as the title implies I'd like to hear all of you're thoughts -- That being you the community.
My own personal opinions, and impression? I love phase two. The hit detection has made a drastic improvement first off. The textures, and colors and sheer amount of detail to everything has increased again. Making the overall presentation fantastic. Granted the match making instant battle mechanic is having issues -- which is to be expected. The lag though is below what we have seen in the [beta] thus far and makes the game very playable. Characters themselves -- I find that the character movements are toned, and refined. Even the scout does not feel "fast" or should I say as "fast" as it did in previous builds. That is just my opinion though as a front line special tasks scout. The weapons feel tight and even without the skills the game overall feels well -- more complete. Granted it is far from complete and still has issues. What I mean is that the game overall is moving foward now -- Minus instant battle at the moment.
What I have noticed has greatly impressed me a lot at the moment. The hud (Heads Up Display) and UI (User Interface) are smooth, but the objective map still needs some refinement in-battle if it is to perform properly for command soldiers especially when they need to call in equipment, or frago an objective. The mini map has seen some great improvements and feels more useful. Probably one of the biggest and most (or should be) noticed additions is the message for fallen clones that alerts them to nearby allies whom can ressurect, or heal them with nanite injectors. Great addition if you ask me, and actually helps both the downed player and medic alike. I also took note that the armor and shields do not regenerate again during confrontations. Which is good. Phase one was a problem due to this partially. Where enemies were healing infront of you.
All of the good aside at the moment though I find that while the hit detection has somehow made some large improvements it could still use minor refinment and tweeks just to smooth it up a bit more. Always room for improvments? I think so. I also noticed a number of missing items and rewards, but I will just toss that up those missing again till phase three. Hopefully anyway. I was dissapointed though nonetheless that I did not have my extra ISK or skill points, but all is good. What I was hoping to see was the MAG suits. Which were missing too, but again not a big deal (at the moment.)
My opinion overall? It's a fantastic improvement even over phase one. I can only hope though that Phase three only solidifies and improves this build further still instead of opening up bugs, and problems. However that I suppose is unrealistic. This is a [beta] and we are the testers here to help improve this game. If there were no bugs or technical side issues to report we'd be playing just a demo. Ha-ha. Still. I am impressed and my faith? Restored.
On anotehr note though -- I cannot wait to see some orbital strike call-in's and other EVE Online support, or even you know CCP the release of both the operator and command suits! Yeah. Get on that. Meow! Ha-ha.
Okay joking aside there at the end. I really want to see some of these other items introduced so we can test them. Selfish? Yes, but I am patient.
So what are your thoughts? Opinions? Are you happy? Impressed? Perhaps dissapointed, or even weary? Are the ISK prices getting you down? Are you raging? Let us know. Just keep it civil.
Edit:
I had no idea that the update would be both phase two and three together. However that does seem to be the case, and which I apologise for the confussion upon my own part.
Though as an amendment -- I must feel to now complain and rage about the missing afore mentioned items. Where are they CCP!

Zhar Ptitsaa,
Hm. I only thought we had moved to phase two. If we are in phase three -- I apologise for my own ignorance. I have noticed a lot of people having issues even outside of instant battle. However they need to just keep letting CCP know so that they can fix and rectify those said issues. I do feel bad though for anyone suffering freezing, or disconnects.
Oh the MQ (Mercenary Quarters)! What a sight. I have to say though that every race thus that I have seen has a favorite color which they seem all too willing to abuse. I love the Gallente MQ, but lord is that a lot of green. Caldari seems to love blue and shades of it; while Amarr seem to.. Well love gold and not just a lot of it, but somewhere near that of maybe say, Gold Member! Ha-ha-ha. Still. I have to say I love the MQ and variety. I can only hope to see that same variation soon in our suits. I would switch to a Gallente Assault most likely. Maybe. |

Connecting to battles and not being able to play right now is frustrating, but tis only a beta, and we just moved to SiSi so things liike this were known to come. but i really want to play
Yes, I know right the MQ is quite green though. Ha-ha.
I will admit that the instant battle is beyond a sore or minor aggravation, but they require data. I only hope this gives them that data. Because, I'll be blunt. Match making blows for any and every game. I dislike it greatly. Sure it is convenient, but annoying, and always lack luster, and leaving you feeling dirty. Server selection any day.
Still once in-game I have to say I am impressed by how smooth the game is overall. |

Icy Tiger wrote:Im pretty impressed as well. The last few games I played were incredibly balanced and fun, hit detection seems vastly improved, snping is great now. I must say that the lag is sometimes an issue, it doesnt come often, but when it does it strikes hard. Ither wise, maps are just awesome. I can even stand playing on the Plateaus ambush map now, just because the atmosphere is so badass. Skirmish is amazing, although I do wish that the old one would also come back. Overall, great update.
Sniping while playing ambush on plateau must be a dream. Everyone is clustering together due to ISK issues, lack of passive skills, and to heal one another. Must be a lot of fun seeing whole mobs of nine people bundled together.

Oh a capsuleer, eh?! Well when the time comes I only hope you can aim that tonka toy. Ha-ha.
Just yankin' your chain. Still we have no idea how aiming an orbital strike or the UI (User Interface) will look like for capsuleer's whom are acquisitioned for the call in. You would have to have the opurtunity first off. Which I bet would be slim most likely due to battles going on around you. Plus you'll have to outfit your ship for the orbital strike as well. |

Hm. I never had the chance to play Crater Lake, but sounds cool. I just hope we do not see so many campers simply because, people are somehow afraid to dish out some ISK, or lose ISK. I've already noticed a number of campers in-game this evening, and it bothered me. I even caught a heavy sitting in a crate just hiding out, and an assault trooper just literally ball hugging a wall all round. He only moved after dying. I understand times are tough and people are penny pinching, but that is no excuse for camping. I'll end my rantings though on that matter. Bleh! However I am glad to see people grouping together in-game even albeit for selfish reasons more often then not. People are largely grouping together for safety, and it seems to be helping their teams and the game.
Not that people do not need to learn team work. They do. Especially concerning the majority. I'm just glad to see medics healing, and people being healed. That made my day. Needs work, but it's a great uplifting start and a leap foward. Ha-ha.
I still have to say that overall though that CCP has improved more Dust514 more then negatively impacting Dust514 and they did go out of their way to correct the instant server hassle which will hopefully clear up even more by weekends end with the data they collect. So I am all giddy honestly. I can honestly agree that Dust514 felt more complete then it ever has, but that is not to say it does not have a long ways to go -- as it does have a ways to go. |
