I bought a philips led tv that changed resolution a lot, and even tough i had the PS3 configured for 1080p, Dust changed the screen and became 720p.
I changed cables, i tested Metal Gear solid 4 (works in 1080p) and i couldnt find any info about this anywhere.
Is dust 720p ? If it is, will it be 1080p someday ? If its not, what may be happening?
Best regards. |

Probably after the release... ccp should probably work on the game mechanics first... |

Not complaining.
I don-¦t care that much about graphics actually, it-¦s just that i can-¦t find the info of downloaded games, coudlnt find anything talking about resolution, and had a problem with my sisters TV (same model) and was wondering if mine had an issue too.
Just asking if it-¦s 720p or my tv is bugged. |

As of now, Dust is only in 720p resolution. No word yet on whether it will be 1080p in the future. |

It's unlikely it'll even be 1080p on the PS3, the PS3 just can't handle it. Even games that claim to be 1080p often fall back to a lower resolution and having the PS3 hardware scale it up. |

I've seen many people saying "Dust wont be able to handle 1080p with so many players on screen". Well, 32 players is not that many.. MAG could have 256 players in the same area, and it ran fine with 1080p. Resolution isn't that big a deal - antialiasing is. |

no console game currently this generation runs at anything higher than 720, technically they ad extra **** to make it higher resolution so the actual resolutions the games say they are are really false. |

According to http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/01/26/mag-is-out-this-week/#comment-362018, MAG only did 720p. |

you can play it in 1080p if you manually turn off all other resolutions except for 1080p and 480p its works just fine in 1080p for me

And what this does is force the console to stretch the 720p image to 1080p resolution. The game itself runs at 720p anyway. |

no it doesnt stretch the image it plays at 1080p if the resolution is not accepted on a game switches back to 480p but it doesnt switch back meaning its in 1080p boy you people like to argue and think you know everything

it wont force it to stretch the image if the resolution wasnt supported it reverts back to 480p but it stays in 1080p on dust and its not stretched or anything trust me its in 1080p ask the gm or the developers

I find most people who pine for 1080p don't even have a set that runs it natively.
Unless you have a large set your native resolution is more than likely 720P anyway so even if the set does do 1080P the optimum setting would still be its native resolution to avoid up-sampling. |

all 1080p tvs run it natively as long as its a 1080p tv and the ps3 wont pick a resolution that the game doesnt support itll revert it to 480p thats how it was designed so if dust 514 plays in 1080p its in 1080p and it plays fine for me that way

Not all TVs that support 1080p run it natively. Many 720p native TVs will support 1080i and 1080p up-sampled which degrades the picture.
As I said:
- Determine the NATIVE resolution of your TV (manual or online).
- Set your PS3 to that native resolution.
- Forget about resolutions until you get a new TV.

Technically, you are indeed viewing the game at a higher resolution through this. But in reality all the calculations etc. are done for 720p and then the PS3 stretches the image with some clever filters and stuff to make it look not as obvious. |
