...Your own allied turret teams kills you by slamming you into the mountain building or ground.
... an allied tank kills you on accident as the resulting spin usually is a nose dive into the ground.
..Your own gunners crash you as they accidentally hitting your own dropship causing it to spin out of control.
...Your own frinedly infantry wanting a ride shooting you causes you to crash.
...Hitting hit while on the groun prevents lift off.
...The new ejector seat throws you into orbit.
...Somone spawning in the drop ship throws the roll extremly off.
...Somone exiting the dropship causing the tail end to flip up too much.
...nearly impossible to land as the camera shakes rather voilently no matter how slow yo float to the ground.
...when it only counts your mass in forward movement, but side ot side and rolls its as if mass doesnt exist.
... an HAV runs away and you choose not to chase it as doing so puts you in the right angle to get shot by it.
...still crash when a sudden gust of wind knocks your landing dropship into the ground upside down which at that point you're stuck if you managed to survive it.
...when allied forces causes more crashes than the enemies. (current score 4 allied, 2 hostile, 3 self)
...when you realize you're just better off not installing a cru (as you still dont get teamspawn points) and not having guns and just fly around as the worlds most expensive pinata for swarm launchers which BTW are much faster than a nanofibered up viper and more manuverable than your flying bus can possibly perform.
...when pilots jokingly state that dropships take after thier name sake much more, they drop out of the sky.
And before you tell me I suck as a pilot I got two more tanks painted on my dropship today one of which was a sagaris (lawl armor tanking sags) a few dozen infantry mowed down and airdropped two squads worth of folks safely. That is probably a hell lot more than average pilot since launch. I would like to thank the brave mercs that had some faith in me not to crash instantly. Had the enemy had the sense to use swarm launchers earlier I wouldnt be here braging bout post build kills.
TL;DR Fix the half the phsyics to make it not fee like a ballon with every sneeze and give old controls back. Keep the newer physics of fighting the wind, hostile hits, and foward mass velocity. |

There are skills that affect the maneuverability of the dropships.
It may also take time to hone your own skills at flying them.
Before, anyone could jump in a dropship and fly them around no problem, now I can totally see them only being flown by people who REALLY take the time to practice and get good at them.
I think that is a good thing personally. Granted, it is HARD to sit in one place and provide cover, but it is more responsive and if you go too hard to one direction or another you can quickly lose control. Try making small adjustments and practice it.
Obviously didnt read the OP. These are things I listed that are beyond the pilot's control. I cant control people spawning in my dropship suddenly undoing a flight manuver I was doing. I cannot control the turret guy from shooting me on accident thinking im a hostile target and sending me into a spin out. I cant control alot of things that happens to the drop ship and its not my fault the dropship acts so abhorrently to the idea things touching it flings it across the map. |

Rusticuls wrote:I jumped into one, started flying, realized something was wrong when I did a barrel roll upon trying to land and grab some dudes up off the ground. When I jumped out something weird happened where I quickly started to ascend like I was superman, luckily I had a SL with me so I launched a couple swarms before dieing when I hit the invisible ceiling. Something is definitely wrong with the physics now, but it seems like everything else feels pretty good.
I called in a dropship the RDV thought it be cute to drop it on top fo the turret . So I got in the railgun turret which eats people and spits them out on the topside when they exit. In hopes of getting nearer to my dropship the dropship goes flying into the wall and I slammed my head against the ceiling, i guess you can safely say I exited orbit. |

So far trying to be a dropship pilot is getting worse and worst by the minute. The job I need to perform is nearly impossible if a single swarm launcher is on the field. If figured out the optimal angle of attack for max speed and its still not enough.
Landing most of the time kills the craft. People spawning in the craft does weird things, them exiting even worser things. I dont know just Ill keep plugging away spare change at it, should have stocked up entirely on dropships before the patch.
I really dont like how an HAV can run away from me now. |

I found it more fun to lock your nose into the other dropship's engines and force the guy down in an air wresteling match. Something that I doubt is doable anymore. |

It only opens doors so snipers can shoot people out. |

Extra manuverable???
Seriously I cant dance around a light pole with the nose pointed to it in 2 seconds in the new model. I definetly cant go under the pipes in 2 second either.
There is a severe loss in mobility and agility. Velocity mass was increased that I dont mind, Fighting the wind that I dont mind, Getting nailed by hostile fire altering course, that I dont mind.
The simple fact that I cannot precisely land in the same amount of time on top of a cru or go full throttle under the warehouses without hitting a box down there. Dodge a swarm launch by manuvering alone.
This game is supposed to be for anyone to pick up and learn on day one but mastering over time the new controls alone is exact opposite of that approach.
Give me the new physics, drop the new controls. |

Good.
If anything this would only encorage to dropship camping even more as parking the thing on the roof is the only reliable way to maintain presence. |

SILENTSAM 69 wrote:New Dropship mechanics FTW!
I love the new mechanics. If you take the time to learn to fly the ship you can do a lot more with it now.
If you think it is hard then it is finally good. It will separate the good pilots from the useless pilots.
Another person who hasnt read the OP.
I have learned I did rack up some kills today that where extremly hard to do.
Dropship overall efficency was basically cut to about 1/10 of its former self you cannot do nearly half of the thinds the previous dropship did in the same amount of time. |
