I've been trying to work out a lot of the inequities with the whole pricing scheme lately. Before you keep reading I fully understand the prices as they are now will change. I'm just trying to make sense of things as they stand now. Also this is focusing on the HAV, but I understand how overused they were last build and I'd like to hopefully see a new mid point between the crazy price hike and the menace status they had. Anyways, on to the groundwork.
First there is this:
Madrugar: 200,000 ISK Shield: 900 Armor: 2900 PG: 2555 CPU: 210 Low slots: 5 High slots: 2
Surya: 1,227,600 ISK Shield: 900 Armor: 3480 PG: 2540 CPU: 235 Low slots: 5 High slots: 3
For 1,027,600 more ISK you get Armor: 580 CPU: 25 High slots: 1
For 1,027,600 more ISK you lose PG: 15
Now that doesn't seem quite right to me that such a huge increase in price leads to less than the addition of a 60mm armor plate (8,000 ISK for 680hp) and a CPU enhancer (71,800). Granted you are gaining a high slot; but on an armor tank surya that doesn't mean much at the moment. Of course you'll argue you're paying for these modules to essentially be built into the base model while conserving PG and CPU loss...Well how does that built in functionality account for the rest of the cost being around 947,800 ISK? Is that the cost of the additional high slot and two unseen used up low slots?
Okay for a moment let's look at the other vehicles we have available. I'll stick with Gallente.
LAV:
Methana: 40,000 ISK Shield: 335 Armor: 1425 PG: 280 CPU: 120 Low slots: 3 High slots: 2
Limbus: 84,000 ISK Shield: 435 Armor: 1855 PG: 310 CPU: 124 Low slots: 3 High slots: 3 Special: Built-in Infantry Remote Repair
For 44,000 more ISK you get Shield: 100 Armor: 430 PG: 30 CPU: 4 High slots: 1 Built-in Infantry Remote Repair
For 44,000 more ISK you lose 44,000 ISK (lol)
Dropship:
Grimsnes: 220,000 ISK Shield: 700 Armor: 1700 PG: 545 CPU: 165 Low slots: 4 High slots: 2
Prometheus: 461,920 ISK Shield: 700 Armor: 1900 PG: 380 CPU: 140 Low slots: 4 High slots: 2 Special: Built-in CRU
For 241,920 more ISK you get Armor: 200 Built-in CRU
For 241,920 more ISK you lose PG: 165 CPU: 25
Now, firstly, in comparison the price increase for an HAV upgrade is six times the level below it. The LAV and dropship are two times the level below them. Let's look at the percentage gains in just the armor between the vehicle classes under the same faction.
HAV Standard -> HAV Marauder 2900 ->> 3480; a 20% increase. (2900 * .20 = 580)
LAV Standard -> LAV Logistics 1425 -> 1855; a 30% increase. (1425 * .3018 = 430)
Dropship Standard -> Dropship Logistics 1700 -> 1900; a 12% increase. (1700 * .1176 = 200)
Does this seem fair? I'm perfectly willing to believe that an HAV is already on the standard tier maxed out armor wise; but how does an LAV that is already gaining on just about all other stats and getting a built in low powered remote rep get a larger armor increase than an HAV does? If anything it should be lower for all the improvements percentage wise. A dropship getting the lowest out of all three makes sense at least. Also looking at the numbers themselves as they relate to the vehicle classes the increases in armor are clearly respective of their class.
Now I was perfectly fine with how tanks were last build, and the price increased proposed along with them. If all the stats were the same with the huge increase in price I could honestly see that as being fair (if anything 1.5 million would of been fair); but as it is now there are so many loses with not enough gains to make up for the price. Especially since the gains in other vehicle classes is clear and defined.
Also, minor note I've noticed, how is it that a Breach Forge Gun does 2520 direct damage for 110,040 ISK and the best Railgun damage wise does 2055 direct damage for 466,440 ISK? I'm paying for the packaging aren't I?
Of course it's all still beta, it could easily change tomorrow. I cant wait till market integration. |

Technically I agree if the tanks matched the price in someway. I'm all for the price increase just not a price increase without at least a scaled gain in some way. |

At this point, it's very expensive. I can't barely use my loadouts. Probably, because it's a beta and EVE contracts can pay more ISK than what we currently have. |

To be clear, I'm not complaining about the price itself.
I'm complaining that the price doesn't reflect a fair upgrade from the tier below it. The incentive is gone.
The price encourages people to make a lower tier work as it's cost effective, but if there isn't a fair sense of upgrade for an extra million ISK, then there's no point in using it, and we'll still have tank spamming of just gunloggi's and madrugar's.

What this guy says. The market will change drastically once it gets opened up to EVE and we're able to produce our own goods. However, I do see where the OP is coming from.
