So being new to the PS3 i try out this shooter and i have to say that if they make this shooter available for the PC the PC users will completely own any other player out there for the simple fact that mouse shooting > gamepad shooting.
So someone enlighten me here what am i doing wrong do i have to configure something in the controls options? the thing is that with L3 in the PS3 you move around and with R3 you move you shooting view, the prob is that R3 is to sensitive and thus very very difficult to get an accurate shot unless of course you get a machine gun which in case you just get in close range and start shooting but using the sniper rifle and aiming with it is almost imposible, by the time you aim right at what you want you are already dead.
So you sniper rifle users out there and all DUST players overall, are you confortable playing the shooter with the PS3 game pad, are you good at it what are your tricks for proper aiming with the R3 button(mini joystick) in the gamepad.

Hey Dave.
aiming with your thumbs can be difficult but with practice, can become very intuitive.
Start by making only large aiming adjustments with your right thumb and the smaller aiming adjustments with your left thumb.
For example, there is an enemy at 3 oclock. Use your right thumb to turn 45 degrees to the right, then use your left thumb to strafe and adjust the reticule so that you're aiming at the enemy.
I also have found that for new DS3 users, its best to start with your Y sensitivity very low (probably around 10) and your X sensitivity around 30. This helps calm your over exagerated thumb movement.
Hope this helps. |

Thanks Dave.
Turn on the aim assist for shooting with a controller. (Unless it annoys you; some folks can't stand it.) Most console shooters utilize some sort of assist, and unless you have two guys running in opposite directions passed your crosshairs, it shouldn't even be that noticeable.
This build has it off by default, which may have something to do with the remaining complaints about hit detection. |

Hmm, did not know this " its best to start with your Y sensitivity very low (probably around 10) and your X sensitivity around 30. This helps calm your over exaggerated thumb movement" is that what your settings are on now?
Any other suggestions Thelma?

I play with X at 40 and Y at 20. I find I need to do a lot of rotating but not much up and down.
Only other suggestion I have is practicing tracking friendly clones. Try to keep your crosshairs on your teammate as he moves across the map. This will help that eye to thumb movement while avoiding a death by practicing on a real enemy.
Also, never get in an LAV with me. It will always end in a hilarious death. |

Hey Forlorn,
Actually Peeeeetreeee and I did that with a LAV, we captured an enemy LAV, he drove (bad idea) and we ran around killing player and jumping off cliffs.
Honestly, still the most fun I have had playing this game was that match, laughed so hard at Peeeetreee I couldn't play.
Back on topic, I'm interested in hearing about players adjustments to in sensitivity and why they do it. Last night I felt my shots were all over the place with Aim assist off, my brain got so used to fighting that way.. UGH. But it took about 4-5 games to adjust back to the correct way of playing.
Thinking about buying the XIMGäó and using my N52TE and G5 mouse and getting back into hard core FPS playing again. |

I would help but my own ds3 skills are ingrained in muscle memory, I suck with mouse or even a altered remote cant use cheap knockoffs cant use xbox controllers. Its petty bad actualy I dont wven know the name of the buttons I hit to do stuff anymore. Kinda why I hate mouse users think they should have a superior system to us ds3 users my skills our all in my reflexs not in my actions.
Once you get use to and comfortable with the controller you would be more than satisfied though as for lining up shots I can hit a target a few hundred meters out with my sniper ive even shot a dropship gunner out of the dropshop before, however sometimes the issue with snipers are more related to hit dection and leading. |

Thank you all for your help and tips yes this is my first time with DS3 i never owned a gaming console till 2 weeks ago, so where exactly do i find these adjustments you speak off, first off where do i find the aim assist(auto aim option) and where are the sensitivity options? are these things you have to change within game or within the initial PS3 menu in adjustments. |

I find there is no replacement for experience when it comes to using a controller knowing what it does from what position of the stick, eventually with a controller you dont actually need to think about how much to move it or moving to line up a shot bit easier it comes naturally after a while, i always found a good way to practice is either by actively fighting or pick something on the screen maybe a block on a wall and aim at it or even team mates they will most likly be moving so that would help getting used to tracking a moving target the other method would help more with target acquiring, it may sound stupid but the DS3 aint goin to make sence until you can get a feel for it |
