So, I guess wrapping up...how has the overall response been for the closed beta on Forums, Twitter and the like?
Yeah, you know, itGÇÖs interesting. The first thing that weGÇÖd say is that there is certainly an audience of people that are starting to realize just how deep this is. And it is almost spine-tingling for us to see this, itGÇÖs sort of like...GÇÖAhh, wow..IGÇÖve been playing in shooters a long time, I love it, I love the leaderboards, working with people but IGÇÖve always craved a little more meaning. I want these battles to matter more than just unlocking another prestige weapon or a gun I may not want to use.GÇÖ
TheyGÇÖre starting to realize that this is where it happens, this is where these battles actually have this big impact. And beyond that, they fire up a typical shooter and the archetypal roles are there, a heavy, a sniper, a frontlines guy...but thatGÇÖs really where it ends. YOu really donGÇÖt have a lot of decision making after that.
But now, in DUST, people are starting to realize that wow, IGÇÖve always like being a sniper but I've always hated that light armor. IGÇÖll give up the mobility and take some heavy armor, and letGÇÖs see how that goes for a while. And itGÇÖs giving people an option to play the game the way they want to, and maybe have never really had a chance to.
And thatGÇÖs a lot of the positive side. Now, some of the complexity is big...and this is where weGÇÖre deliberately listening to what weGÇÖre hearing in the forums from both people who are familiar with the EVE universe and people who arenGÇÖt. I mean, the things youGÇÖre seeing now that are coming with Precursor are deliberately aimed at reducing that learning curve, of making sure that, yes; all of that complexity is there, weGÇÖre not shying away from that. We don'tGÇÖ make simple, little games for people. We make intellectually demanding games for people and weGÇÖre proud of that, but we donGÇÖt have to make it too hard to figure out how to play. ThatGÇÖs the difference.

CCP is good at sifting through useless QQ and finding actual input on the beta build. |

well, the whole ISK thing is an integral part of the game and CCP is proud of it. They build games that require brain power. I hope people can respect and apperciate it even if its not necessarily their cup of tea......
I also hope the next build brings a lot to the table and can pleasantly surprise people as far as their faith in CCP. I certainly think they got everything under control. Remember, they have been playing with and testing stuff we havent even heard of yet most likely. 10% of the game. |

lol probs not, but he wasnt sugar coating it when he said:
"We don'tGÇÖ make simple, little games for people. We make intellectually demanding games for people and weGÇÖre proud of that"
this is not gonna change no matter how much people protest it in forums. |

'The culture clash on the forums has been fascinating, but what is really exciting is that we're starting to see signs of an evolution in how people are thinking about what they want out of an 'fps'-style game. We realize that all parts of DUST won't be everybody's cup of tea, but we can see from our closed beta forums that some of the traditional fps community are starting to understand what we're really offering them, and are signing on for what promises to be a very entertaining ride.'
he could have.
it wouldve been epic.
but he didnt.
wish he did. |

High sec miners whine and cry all day and say the same things, make the same ultimatums, and CCP stonewalls them to the delight of everyone else. They make their own game. IF you want to build your own game around your style of play every 3 months there's EA for that.
Well the high sec miners did get their way this time. :| haha, you'll have to figure out other ways to pick on carebears. i dabble in can flipping noob mission runners in Rens but mostly I rat/explore null sec, i suicide ganked a cov op cheetah that was parked uncloaked 0m from a high sec sun but i was ignorant to GCC and couldnt loot it...
lol people talk about how its going to be game breaking when you have newbs fighting against super duper specced and modded guys in high sec, but thats how its going to be unless you do an insta match with a matchmaking system. Just like tebow, there will be plenty of people out there who just wanna see the world burn.
My surya's engine is fueled by noob tears and my railgun shoots lamp posts. Someone has to get the fuel so i can gas up my tank. EVE economy at its best. I get fuel, tebow gets paid. |

the problem i see a lot is people think CCP is obligated to listen to what they say and make changes accordingly. Especially when these people dont even really know what the game is about outside of the fact you shoot people. I am glad CCP stays true to what they want and don't bow to any money grabbing publisher or whining entitled elitists. |
