Greetings Dusters,
I had just joined Dust-514 this weekend to get a taste of whats coming for EVE and boy am I excited. Recently rejoining EVE myself and reading Templar One, I am now exploding with ideas of Merc organizations. But this is not my issue.
I have fallen in love with logistics drop-suits, and after toying with several builds and restarting characters to try different SP builds. Now to be relevant in battle as my chosen suit I chose Sentinel for the increased Mechanic skills. Adding more skill points to Mechanic first and for most in order to have access to better repair tools and to increase my own armor plates and reps. Then branching out to engineering to increase PG and CPU ( I believe PG more so), and giving slights buffs to my personal shields.
I am finding that others still rip right through my shields and armor. If i am lucky to hide after my shields are depleted...I can rep myself with the rep tool...but I accepted the fact I am support and not assault so I would not find myself hunting anyone down. I am fine with this. I love being support. I find myself taking some form of LAV for extra armor and when others need assistance or some type of repair, I will disembark and do what I can. I do not expect anyone to cover my tritanium butt while I do my job.
I have been toying with this
Light: Assault Rifle Nade: random
High: Weapon DMG mod
Low: Armor Rep Power Diagnostic
Extra: Repair Tool Ammo supply
After mechanics is pushed to IV and a few other skills in that branch i find my armor to sit at 180hp and shields at 130hp (I believe)
Could any other Logi players give a new Duster tips so far on survivability. I'm no good to my team if I'm dead most of the time.
PS. How the hell do you use the Nanite Injector......I try and use it on a dead ally but does not work. Are they passively hitting O?

Well for your health problem i would recommend shield extenders and armors plates with those you can easily get to 500 health and the nanite injectors are broken this build and will be fixed next.

i would suggest you ditch the default fit ASAP (your's looks like a carbon copy of the default fit)
if you haven't yet, buy all the militia gear from the market and make your own fits. only need 1 of each except for the nanite injector and scrambler pistol. they are bugged.
then remove the weapon damage mod in favor of a shield extender. this is decent advice for any fit, but especially for a logi guy. you can't help anyone if you are dead.
the fit also MAY not need that powergrid upgrade. replacing it with even a standard or militia armor plate will help keep you alive a little longer. all armor plates have movement penalties, but the small ones aren't to bad.
alternately you could use another passive rep to reduce downtime between fights, or a stamina/sprint mod to help counter the logis lower mobility. |

Here's my most common setup:
Weapon: Proto Mass Driver
Grenade: AV
High Slots (4): 2 lvl 5 light weapon damage mods (puts direct damage for MD over 300) 2 lvl 5 shield extenders (shield hp about 290)
Low Slots (4): 3 basic sprint mods (run about 7.3 m/s, walk at 4.4 m/s) 1 basic PG increase mod (to make everything work together) Armor HP at 237 (or close to i think, not in front of game) (no armor rep mod because for now I can repair self with repair tool, but won't be able to next build)
Equip Slots (4): Milita Nanite injector (just in case, better next build) Armor repairing nanohive (2 active) Flux Drop uplinks (2 active) - USE THESE, they win battles Basic Repair tool
I have found that the militia and basic equipment is perfectly adequate (so far) in getting their intended jobs done, there is currently not a lot of upside to using SP to get better support equipment until after you have upgraded other skills to help you kill and survive while supporting the team. I decided to us my SP initially to increase my viability on the battlefield by increasing my weaponry, shields, and speed.
This is my Aurum setup, only works with some of the gear that requires less CPU/PG, but only really noticable difference is in my ISK setup I use only 2 sprint modules and add 1 basic armor upgrade (slows me down a small bit but ups my armor by 44hp)
LOVE this setup, I am fast enough to get where I need to be, and my Mass Driver can be used from behind the front line to still assist in the fight, support assault class, and cover AV class soldiers. AV grenades are mostly because there is currently no downside, will probably use infantry grenades in next build.
Doesn't hold up great against direct fire from any powerful AR, but move with purpose and caution and try to stay around cover, the Mass Driver excels in deterring enemies by popping out from behind cover and peppering the ground around them.
P.S. if using the Mass Driver, I suggest upgrading weaponry, operation, proficiency, reload speed, then ammo in that order
Oh yeah, and if you don't already have one, get a mic.

I setup situations where my combat squad fights w/ advantage. I establish a drpuplnk close to the obj. I put a nano hive in the direction of the target btwn ten drop and obj. I take hi ground always and I plan for my direction of egress
I delver indirect fire and I support the teams movement and projection

As a mainly Logi user, I'll just give you some tips. 1) I personally don't recommend the damage mod because, as you said yourself, we are mainly support, I use shield extenders instead. 2) I use the repair tool the most often of all my equipment, and I almost never get a chance to repair vehicles, so I recommend the Triage Repair Tool, which repairs infantry faster, but vehicles slower. 3) Because I'm a points *****, I use the non-repairing nanohive, because you don't get points when it repairs people. 4) I use Gauged Drop Uplinks because you can deploy two at a time, the others only let one. 5) The AR is a great weapon for the suit, keep skilling AR operation and proficiency. 6) Stick with a team-mate. - - - The End |

This is why I love DUST 514; one dropsuit and dozens of possible builds^^ As for me, the medic build is something I am hoping to try out after the wipe and as I speed is very important to them, I chose to go with Shield Extenders over Armour; less HP added, but no speed reduction. If you plan of doing vehicles as well or hitching a ride often speed should be less of a concern and Armour would be a much better addition (to you as well as your vehicle), especially since you already have mechanical skills. After the Logistic Buffs coming (better Armour, better Shields, hack speed boost) and the implementation of a better medic mechanic, this is going to be a much better choice of dropsuit. I cannot wait!^^ |
