I havent noticed any aim assist? The hit detection is very difficult with assault rifles. Also the forge gun is throwed off a bit. You can be focused on a structure and hit it a couple of times and then half the time it misses on the very same spot u had just hit it. Gets kinda aggravating but im sure next build will be tons better. Could someone explain to me the aim assist? |

Well, what happened to me was, I went and hit the PS button to check the time during a game of ambush. I still had my CreoDron Breach assault rifle drawn and ready. A player on the opposing team ran past and looking through the XMB I could see my character literally weave and twist as the enemy booked it up some stairs and around a corner and my gun tried to follow. Kind of funny.
OK, really that is the auto aim. Gun will follow an enemy whether you want it to or not. It is a pain when fighting groups because sometimes your reticle will track a target you are not trying to kill when one player crosses another. So you will waste the last few rounds in your clip on an enemy with full health instead of the one you had down to a fraction of life bar left. Then you get killed re-loading. That is the auto-reload.
Aim assist would be when you move your weapon over a target the reticle will speed towrd the target and slow down away and/ or stick to the target as you move to aim. This only happens when you are moving your gun toward a target to fire. Supposed to give you a better chance to stay on target with d pad. |

its also known as aim stick, its like your reticule is atracted to a target like a magnet, and slows responsiveness a little bit to help you make subtle adjustments. I think Dust havent got any aim assist thats why its so hard to kill somebody from medium range. Aim aid also helps when you have lag, I had a situation when somebody was running around me in circles and shooting at me, and I couldn't hit him even that I've placed my reticule on him dead on
here you can see how it works, its in most games on consoles, only few allow to turn it of like COD: black ops I believe

Huh. I guess I didnt realize it did that. Maybe thats why I have such a hard time keeping my dot on the dude. It does seem to wander a lot but I assumed it was recoil because the Duvolle kicks a bit. The Breach is way smoother but the rate of fire gets me killed a lot. I guess ima have to tinker with it. Been playin a month and a week and never noticed. Must be my ADHD. Lol. Duhhhhhh. |

Aim assist is very detectable. Don't touch your controller, wait for a target to cross your way, your crossair will attach to the target. That's how the Aim assist works in Dust 514. |

I am not sure, I haven't tested this with somebody standing in front of me like in this movie, but I haven't noticed any aim aid as well. I am not sure it should work in hip fire, when aiming its most usefull, its not a cheat, but try to make subtle adjustments with a controller, its nearly impossible.
KB+M doesn't have this feature but for consoles and controllers it's almost must have. |

2 points:
1) there absolutely IS aim assist in dust. probably in every console shooter on the market, by varying degrees and systems.. if you're not noticing it that means it's working properly.
2) it DOESN'T seem to be working properly in close range hipfire. many people, myself included, have noticed the aim assist trying to "lead" a target that doesn't need to be led. resulting in having to get off the stick entirely, or even push it to the left to hit a target running to the right.
the forge gun is just naturally inaccurate, has nothing to do with aim assist in game. it's a super high damage AV weapon so you need to NOT be able to reliably hit infantry with it. that would be why you can only hipfire it and why the reticule rattles as you charge.
as for your AR, it's much more likely an issue of recoil and the other guy moving. no offense but you might just be bad at it right now. especially if you're a full-time PC guy using an analog stick for the first time. as you mentioned, the breach weapon is easier to keep on target. that's probably not because the aim assist is different for just those guns. (though i could be wrong i guess. halo has varying aim assist with every gun) |
