Correct, I cant wait for this...
Another interesting factor sizes of planets could have, Imagine the effects on vehicles?
Small Ice Planet: Your light vehicle is zooming, and skidding around, because its ice, little traction, and nearly no gravity, you actually get air time, and take damage when you hit because your going to fast, etc. Hard to control, yet heavy cumbersome tanks are doing a bit better, they slide around a little but due to their extreme weight, they get better traction, foot soldiers move slower due to how light they are, and have no traction.
But on the flip side, Dropships are having a ball, the light gravity allows them to accelerate, and climb must faster, and allows them to zoom around with better handling as inertia doesnt have as big of an impact.
Now imagine a huge Gas Giant one of the biggest and most heavily effected gravitational type planets.. Tanks are bogged down, you may even use them more as a stationary secondary turret, Dropships can barely take off, and are bogged down, and it turns into a light vehicle, and infantry fight, with tanks acting as makeshift turrets/bunkers.
This would add a huge array of difference in fights from planet to planet, and would cause you to have to change tactics depending. Even change the loadout of your vehicles. You dont want speed boost stuff on your tank on heavy gas giants, you'd want to focus all on as much armor/firepower as you could pack on.
it would also add a huge array of difference of how you attack/defend. Take the Gas Giant above. Defenders may rely on heavily armored/shielded tanks in tactical locations to give a good range of support fire, by dropping them down in key locations.
While on the flip side, the attackers may want to focus on a blitz attack of light vehicles. |
