I would like dust to have a incredible realisitc and fun combat system that rewards natraully quick or skillful players
cloaking is coming and I think it should be based off movement and mass so the bigger you are the less you van move around why cloaked or else your cloak is gone and the faster your moving the less cloaked you are, I also think it should be a module. https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=30035&find=unread
Combat movements like sliding and diving roling those kinda things a pretty well covered in this thread, and bullets should stagger players. https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=30188&find=unread
The red chevron are all about you being able to see the other guys Im suggesting it be more based off suits signature streagth vs your suits sensor streagth, suits with alot of low power modules would have small sigs there could even be modules that hide the sig better or improve your sensor its pretty well covered here https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=30088&find=unread
Portals would add a interesting futuristic element to game player players whoboutfit speicle hugely cpu/pg consuming modules be able to portal to a diffrent location, I know black ops tanks could possible be doing this but the suit module could be only for one suit were as the tank one would allow a portal to stay open for 10 or 15 seconds and a instalation could create of permenant portal. https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=29841&find=unread
Tacnet and your hud could become a major part of the game I think I described it pretty well here please not this also works based of signature and sensor streagth as well https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=30172&find=unread
I think some good ideas for vehicles are in this thread having a subscreen for vehicles all ways showing a diffrent direction would be a great boon for vehicles and allowing tank owners to assign position within the tank among diffrent players https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=29430&find=unread
I think both ADS and hipfire should be viable methods within the game https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=29087&find=unread

well if you pair claoking with the signal and sensor thing it could posable limit all well it camps also the cost of cloaking in cpu and pg and the cost of portals would be high as in paper thin low damage guys.
right now combat fills like were running around with toys not like werein a dynamic battlefield i suggesting that stuff because it would give player mor options |

1 halo didnt invent portals so i dont know y u went there first, but i agree there shouldnt be portals (exept maybe as instalations in the future) and 2 bullet stagger is not even that big of a deal and if im not mistaken there is some form of that coming SOONtm |

Slight bullet stagger seems like a great idea in my opinion, maybe only happen when shields are at 0%. Could add a cool staticy effect over the HUD to signify suit armor taking damage.
Not sure if you've played Crysis2 but they had diving, sliding and some crazy fast gameplay. It was fun for a bit but would completely change the gameplay from tactical team play to "run as fast as you can in circles dodging fire till people die". Obviously if it took sp to increase agility and decrease stamina usage from these maneuvers it COULD keep it balanced. I'm just not a fan of this idea at all, just seems gimmicky. Same goes for portals, cool concept but I see no place for it in this game.
Cloaking is almost a must if you consider the technology eve ships have, our little suits should be just as if not more advanced. I'm glad they're thinking about it, hopefully keep it subtle tho. Good snipers are already tough to pinpoint, would really suck f they were invisible too. |

I should point out that Halo doesn't have portals, and I don't know where any of you got the idea that it does. The only things that are in any of the Halo games are the "combat movement" thing (there's a combat roll as one of the Armor Abilities in Halo: Reach) and the cloaking thing (which CCP already confirmed was in the game), so I have no idea why Halo was even brought up.
Cloaking was always the point of the Scout suit, and you can see that by reading the description of the Scout suit on the main site. I think they should balance cloaking by disabling the shields of the user while cloaked, but regardless of anyone's opinions on cloaking, it's a confirmed feature.
Sliding, diving, ect could only work if they have a massive drain of stamina, you can't fire weapons while doing it, and the trajectory of your movement is predictable. Unless you use it properly, it should make you a huge target. I don't personally feel it should be in at all, but if they're going to do it, that's how it should be done.
Portals, if implemented, should be expensive and be something that's placed by the commander, not by anyone with the ISK to spend on it. I don't really think they'd work without completely screwing up map flow, though. |

Cloaking is coming. Countered by high CPU/PG costs likely, also expensive, and can be disrupted by EWAR.
Sliding and diving is an OK idea, and honestly prone should be added. Camping is a problem in any FPS, adding an added layer of stability is a good idea, plus will facilitate ambushes better when corp battles come around.
Bullet stagger makes sense, especially versus lighter dropsuits like scouts, would make their notorious ability to "dodge" bullets a little easier to manage. Obviously would affect a heavy less, with moderate stagger for Assault or Logi classes.
I dunno, they aren't bad ideas really. |

Portals, if implemented, should be expensive and be something that's placed by the commander, not by anyone with the ISK to spend on it. I don't really think they'd work without completely screwing up map flow, though. Most of this stuff would be balanced by high cpu/pg anuone with cloak or portals will be fairly weak, and thanks to the hi health camping with cloak will be hard since it will only make a diffrence in the first shot after that it becomes a normal battle with you having less hp.
Sliding and diving would both be heavly effect by stagger, the others would be less effected by stagger but all of them are fairly predictable once you see the animation a vet would know where there going to end up, but a vet using the movement would know how to start the slide or dive and put them behind cover.
I suggesting this stuff now so it can be intergrated into dust in the next build if its not it will feel like its taced on gimmick. So if they are going to add this they would need to do it early.
The portals would add a interesting element to combat and give commander something to think about. Cloaking would be a poor way to camp because of its own limitation and cpu/pg cost. But all of this if it is add in early on could become a major part of dust and add new elements to gameplay and make matchs funner if balanced properly. |

Portals are how drop uplinks work lorewise, and just because Halo did something doesn't make it off limits. That has to be one of the most incredibly ******** arguments against a feature I have ever read, yet I have seen people make that argument many times. I support portals with equipments, or installations. Check out this thread about it: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=28202&find=unread
I totally support vaulting, sliding, and rolling. Diving I don't really care for.
Hipfire is fine, keep your grubby hands off my hipfire accuracy. I see no problem with ADS, and its totally a viable option right now, a buff to ADS accuracy is fine.
Cloaking is pretty much confirmed since Fanfest. I want cloaking, but in regards to cloaking I must say this:
KAGEHOSHI Horned Wolf wrote: I don't understand why people favor a cloak that only works while standing still. This will lead to overpowered campers and snipers. It would be much more useful the other way around: it should ONLY WORK WHILE MOVING, and you should become more visible when you slow down, and get fully visible when you stop moving. Why? Because someone sneaking past enemies and getting to objectives and setting down drop uplinks is FAR more useful than an invisible camper or a sniper. To balance it, you should not be able to hold a gun while cloaked, and any melee should disable the cloaking until a cooldown time has passed.
Invisible snipers and campers is NOT the way to go
I would like to add:
Cloaking should be an equipment module requiring a moderate amount of skills to use, and different grades of the cloak module (standard, advanced, and prototype) should have progressively better cloak duration, and levels of invisibility; for example standard cloak modules should only have 10 seconds of cloaking before the cool down, have a strong refraction effect that gives them away to those who pay attention, but the refraction effect should be much less in higher grade cloak modules, and prototype cloak modules would be able to be invisible for 20 seconds before having to cool down. There should also be different variants each with varying strong points and weaknesses.
Chevrons (the symbol over a player's head) should not appear on a cloaked player, even if his cloak is unconvincing visually.
Weapons (even knife) should not be usable at all until cloak is disabled. I don't mean once you fire or knife that the cloak turns off, I mean you can't fire or knife at all until you turn off the cloak, or until it has to cool down.
Cloak disabling should make a electrical discharge sound. This would give observant players a chance of spotting a newly de-cloaked enemy who is about to knife them in the back.
Cloaking should be meant for avoiding combat, not getting stealth kills.
There should be deployable equipment designed to locate enemies, and higher levels of this equipment should spot cloaked players at a certain proximity. I think there is an equipment listed in the store (though not currently in the game) that might fit this.
Cloak should be more easily fitted in a logistics dropsuit compared to other slot; they have lots of PG/CPU, and cloaking would be great for avoiding combat for the sake of supporting others (like sneaking past enemies to place a drop uplink).
Can't really think of more right now. |

Not that I want that argument on this thread but, hipfire is really accaurct as is, and ADS is hard due to tracking speed and I thought have skills to train into on or the other was a good idea, but for those skills to be need hipfire will have to drop before it can be raised back up with ingame skills |

yes prone needs to be added. I hate drop shots but i use as a protection strategy like when i need to reload i will duck under cover so i can safely reload.
yeah it really depends on how much as long as we would still be able to move good enough it would be fine, also would be awesome to stop scout suit users from becoming bunnies when in a gun fight with them |

Wouldnt prone have the same issue of cloaking allowing camping? I would be happy if just combat movement were added sense that make the battlefield a bit more interesting. But it would have to be added early if it was to be brought in. why do some of ypu say stagger wont work? |

All of these things would add new level of meta game. Cloaking would be used primarly for scouting or yeah camping but what game doesnt have campers? The portals would change the flow of combat. Signature and sensors in the suit will make people think twice about loading their suit out with every techno module they can fit, and would add a interesting part of gameplay.
Combine all of this with Ewar counters and more equipment all of this stuff will become a major part of the game, using portals and cloaking to its best of its abilty while the other team is on the look out for that and trying to counter it with their own Ewar gear. The radar and sensor on your suit could become major parts of how you play by allowing you to easly find other plays or be found.
A player could deck his suit out with any combination of Ewar, cloaking, porting, detecting, and protection modules. The sacrifce of cpu/pg to gain a extra ability or better capabilitys might also make you a easy sensor target and easy to find, cloaking and portals uses and limits could change how players move around the battlefield.
If this stuff was brought in cloaking, portals, detection, camoflague, movement, speicilized gear and combined with its Ewar counters future vehicles diffrent maps, large planet wide wars resources supplys logistics. Would make combat from the smallest unit to the intire overall game much more than another syfi shooter it would be a future war simulator, bringing new elements and changing how hardcore players play the game. But for all this stuff to be properly balanced it would have to be brought in early or else it will fill like its taced on as a gimmick. |
