Good Day All!
Quick backround: I came into the beta on the last build and for the first weekend, I didn't have a mic, so I went out and got me one and have been on mic ever since. Now there are times I may not speak because it is on charge, but I have mic enabled anyway so I can hear what is going on in battle. Also, I do like to have a few barley pops(beer) while I play and lose track of how many I have had, so I do tend to slur abit on mic while time goes on. Sorry to all who have been on mic with me during those times. I have fixed that problem, by muting my mic and/or passing out after a battle is done!
When the mic is working the right way, (aka. I'm not stuck on enemy comms 6 rounds in a row), I have met a lot of great people, learned some new suit load outs, and had a few good laughs along the way. I have also been able to help out some new players get adjusted to some of the flaws with the beta.
Even with all the nastiness on the boards with the rEVEtards vs. the FPS cry babies, that seems to be put aside once the battle starts and people get to know each other by actually talking. Here are a few examples:
I was playing a round covering a Heavy with a Forge gun. We would run to a terminal and he'd hack as I covered him. We were chatting bout stuff on the boards and up rolls xprotoman with a tank. The comment was made about protoman wanting pink dropsuits and he comes on mic to flat out deny that and that it was PDIGGY that wanted them. Didnt know proto was on mic but was cool to have him on comms. The comment was made why we were the only 2 hacking while everyone was running around. I made the comment that since I play EVE I'm a rEVEtard and that's what I probably should be doing. A chuckle came across comms (probably protoman). Made me feel good when the Heavy made the comment that I dont fit the bill since I've been running around with him, covering his fat, slow a**. The rest of the round it was him and me running around hacking terminals, getting kills and xprotman would roll in for support with his tank. It was a good round for all of us with protoman, myself and the other guy going 1,2,3 in kills.
Did a mic check during another round and got the response, "sorry, no Mikes here. A few James and Joes" That was the start of another good round. Again, lots of good info being shared between players and Omni Zitro was on our team and on mic and I asked how he can pull off such great kill numbers. He didnt hold back and gave us some great tips that I have been using ever since. There was a mix of EVE and FPS players in the round but we all worked together and had a great time doing it.
It was myself and a lone female on mic and she was a NOOB. She was saying how she was getting torn apart everywhere she would go, so I teamed up with her to help her out. She had a lot of questions about the flaws in the game, hit detection, getting stuck running, trying to hack and it keeps reseting. Told her that the problems are known and that they are slowy being fixed. And not to give up on the game, since it's still a really BIG work in progress. At the end of the battle she ranked number 5 in kills and I ranked number 11 but felt good helping a new player get adjusted.
Some of the jokes/stories on mic are a gas. I told of my encounter with STB carlos only to realize I was out of ammo and how some guy didnt mute his mic while having a blow out on the can.(Seen Van Wilder? It was like that!) Other players told of how they jumped from a dropship before it exploded but their controller died so wasn't able to use X button to land or sufing a tank and just as they were about to pop it, they get sniped. Just some really funny stuff. All the while, still relaying info/ orders to keep the battle rolling.
See ya on the Battlefield!
