Just ran with a player named PooeyPilot (I think) using a Methana with a Missile Launcher. Sure, say what you want about small missile launchers being over-powered but it's actually a really cool set up.
He had 10 kills off the turret, I had 3 from running people down - including an accidental kill from ramping ontop of the building at Alpha and squishing someone. We died once.
It's mostly about keeping mobile - you hold still for just a second and you're gone. Most people say it's like driving on ice but it's actually intended that way - I think - as drifting with the vehicle is INCREDIBLY easy and LOTS of fun. It can go in reverse as fast as it can go forward, and over-all once you get the hang of it (like dropships) it's an incredibly useful tool against HAVs.
HAV's, particularly with Railguns (which most of you use), can't turn very fast. The LAV can dance circles around a Sagaris and take it down in quick succession as it can out-run it, as long as you're not in close-quarters you'll be fine. We had some difficulties with Dropships but driving under buildings/piping remedied that quickly as the dropship pilot has to focus on navigating as well as allowing his men to fire - splitting his focus.
In the end, I'm incredibly impressed, and now that I've had my fun with the Surya and her beastly weaponry - I think it's time to enjoy the fun of the Methana/Limbus =) |

Dodged the swarm missiles - forge gunners couldn't get a proper shot off due to the speed. Swarm missiles will try to intercept but if you're moving quickly you can round corners or actually fly -through- the spread of the missiles and they'll hit the ground behind you. |

In think the point the OP is trying to make is, with a good driver "amount of shots to kill" is irrelevant because your too fast to get hit. |

I actually looked at the Methana too, ran it a few times but the armor is weak, I started building up to the Limbus, I'm just missing the LAV 4 skill at about 1.2 mil sp, but after running Surya to the top, I'm having too much fun running assault AV and AR at the moment so sp are getting spent there. I'll probably get it skilled today to see what the fit is like and if it's anything like the HAV's it'll be a lot more manageable than the Methana, though the logistics side won't be so useful till grouping comes it'll be good to try it out before hand. |

I maxed out the mid level shield LAV with top shield modules and it was pretty beefy for the structure. But like was said in the OP, you can't stay still, even if you really need to to help defend a location, or you'll get sniped out of the drivers seat or AR-d out of the gunner spot and then your pretty $100k toy is free to be used by any passer-by.
LAV's are fun, but too illogical for a serious isk investment with an open cabin. Gunners are replacable.. but pilots should live until the thing dies. That, and you get less SP as a pilot with that than a dropship, which is bad anyways. ;)
They are fun though, hopefully there will be other variants of LAV to justify spending real SP in that skill tree. |

if you find a experienced HAV driver you cant outrun a railgun turret. For the simple fact you can boost the turn speed by turning not just the turret but also the vehicle itself at the same time. |

Love the Limbus
I'm definitely getting a high tier LAV next build and more than likely in the full game.
First major vehicle goal after the usual things like basic tier suits and weapons.
Of course, sinking 3+ million SP into getting an awesome ride might be foolish. |

I got a tank killer LAV, and unless you've got a well fitted Marauder, I can basically run circles around you. Proto swarms are a *****.
Also, what are the stats for the Limbus? As in slots, armor slots, shield slots, etc. |

Assuming the tank has 3 gunners you don't survive very long if the tank driver knows what he's doing.
On next build blasters get splash damage which means they actually hit without aiming. |

They're squishy and don't let you the pilot kill stuff like tanks do, so they're like dropships yet less useful. But they're fun and in bigger maps their speed will probably be nice. Just don't expect to be on the kill board or get a lot of SP until they change something.

3 High Powered 3 Low Powered
It's nice though in that it has a permanent built in infantry armor repairer.
My favorite fit so far:
Remote Automated Repair Unit Voltaic Energized Plating Efficient Armor Repair Unit 20GJ Railgun F45 Peripheral Damage Control Unit Ward Shield Amplifier
I could remove the remote repair unit for extra durability in some way but I really like healing tanks. I can survive two solid proto forge gun blasts with this fit. It takes a handful of RE's to blow me up. Railguns don't seem to hurt much unless it's a decent tank. 2-3 marauder railgun hits and I'm down. 1-2 sometimes, probably damage modules or relevant stats. |

Pretty impressed with the new LAV builds you guys are using. With my Proto SL, it takes me about three volley's to take one down. After the first I was like "what the hell?" because you didn't pop... good job finding a nice build. |

Yesterday I skilled up my Limbus. This is fit that I use:
Low: 60mm Reinforced Nanofibre Plates(612hp, 12% mass) Voltaic Energized Plating(-25%) Efficient Armor Repair Unit
High: F45 Peripheral Damage Control Unit(-14%) F-S3 Shield Amplifier(-23%) Remote Shield Booster (S)
STurret: XT-1 Missile Launcher
HP: 435s, 2467a.
It's hard to tell how many shot with AFG this fit can survive. Yesterday I got 1 decent shots from prot AFG with A-S(just at start of Skirmish so he probably had 2xdmg mods) it took whole my shield and armor to 40%, but yesterday I use 2x -25%EP. Today I get 4 direct shots from other guy with proto AFG and I didn't die. People running around with VK.0 pAFG with 3xdmg mod are very rare :P. An hour ago I had such a situation when I drive on A, and maybe 6 or 7 guys try to shoot me with everything(SMG, AR, Shootgun, M SL), but they couldn't break the tank I felt sooo strong
RARU that is build in is missing statistics no clue how many hp point it's fix, moreover it is very difficult to lock it on anyone with it(especially on fighting conditions). Because for example: camera from the driver's seat not allow ppl to see what is behind the car. I would prefer more if this module could work in area of effect similar to "Nanohive R". |

Considering that my gunlogi is one shotted by proto forge guns while in full resist fit, I doubt your LAV will fair much better.
That's full resist as in 3x resist mods and a suit case.

I ignored the LAVs and went for marauders. Ever since a game where I hopped into a LAV with my heavy just so I wouldn't have to walk all the way across the map to get to the fighting I changed my mind. I ended up turret gunning for the LAV the entire rest of the match. At one point we circle-strafed and killed a sargaras. The rest of the time we were popping infantry left and right and capturing points like bosses.
I think LAVs are under-appreciated. |

Yeah, the camera is really difficult to get a proper lock on people. It would be kind of cool to have an area of effect bubble but that might make it too powerful. |

I don't know what CCP was thinking, but how do LAVs and Dropships almost move as fast as swarms?? I know it is a make believe world, but somehow our plasma rifles have recoil even tho there is no shell, or gas being vented. we have square gernades that bounce every which way, we are in super suits and cannot throw a gernade 50 yards....sometimes they want real world reference and other times....well nothing even close. |
