Fire blistering across your entire frame, tritanium based armor melting against and melting with your flesh. You dart about looking for cover from the barrage of plasma and flurries of small arms fire riddling the area in a pelting of shrapnel. Soon enough you come to formidable cover - a giant cross-welding of metal used to prevent vehicles from entering the area. Unfortunately, much to your dismay, you're now faced with the difficulty of traversing this small obstacle. Running dead sprint you collide with the surface of it and become entangled, having to either move to the right or left whilst being obliterated for the small opportunity you provided in which you held still...
Point is, here is some ways you could have traversed this tank trap slightly easier.
Vaulting
Going immediately prone and bear crawling beneath it
Sliding under it (previously mentioned in another thread)
Rolling to the side to bypass it
We're mercenaries, but at the moment it doesn't feel like such. It feels as though we are running combatants with no foresight into our next actions - choosing to avoid obstacles entirely instead of finding a way about them. This is predictable for enemy combatants as, if you always know that the enemy has to move around the object, you can adjust your aim accordingly ahead of time. |

I would love for there to be more ways to move your character rather than just walk run and sprint, but any new movement type must be balanced properly or else it will be repeatedly abused, and any combat movmwnt system will need to be implemnted early in testing or it would be poorly balanced.
I would like to be able to slide, to stop people from sliding all over the place make sprint required to go into a slide and make it so sprinting takes 1 or 2 seconds to get up to maxium speed.
quick movement anything really when I spawn in front of the enemy in ambush I would atleast like to have a quick escape escpecially when I see them before they see me. A diving mechanic or a hopping mechanic or a sliding mechanic. I think having it interupt if you get shot would help balance it and not make it easly abuse able.
Conservation of momentum, sometimes when im running though a place three assault chasing me a quick and smart move would save myself, I have no such move avalible, for example when im running and I hit the crouch button while rotating towards a new angle let me go into a knee slide or something im still moving I just crouching as well wered that momentum go?
Sliding could happen when your sprinting and go in a straight line Doing a forward croch were you are still moving but going into the crouch position could happen by sprinting and turning rathwr than sliding you kinda fall forward to your knees a little distance in front of you.
Things like that but make it comprhesive and make it feel like part of the game. doing action Aand action B should cause my highly train merc to have a little more movement avalible to his clunky *** I want skill at timing and response to allow players to have more get out of the way options.
Diving sliding quick movements that could save a skillful merc. But make it so the more complexe ones are easly interupted by being shot. And on that note make gunfire stagger the merc it doesnt need to be much just a small shakingand maybe knock you off balance while sprinting thus stoping your sprint I would like things like that.
More movement option alot more Bullets staggering players and canceling certian movement action sprint and diving mainly.

Tritainium is useless on planets due to being unstable within an atmosphere, but good post otherwise. I'd prefer a vault action myself. |

+1 I would really love some rolling, some vaulting, and some sliding. |

Sliding: sprinting in straight line + crouch consumes some stamina to start, end in the crouching postition. 60% decrease in accaurcy
Diving: standing still for a second + quick forward movement + crouch consumes some stamina, takes a second or two after dive to get up into crouch postition easiest to interupt.
Rolling: hard movement left or right + crouch send into role. Player end in the crouching position Consumes some stamina
Knee skid: sprinting + hard turn + crouch causes player to drop to crouch position and slide with the rest of their momentum.
Stagger: when being shots player shakes and any complexe movement option; sliding and diving have an increasing change to be interupted.
When in crouching position game automatic end the crouch when player tries to sprint.
When falling from hights of using inertia dampener cause player to go in crouch do to momentum.
Add these to the OP so people can see some of the ideas we come up with as possible movment options
Edit Vaulting: when player runs at a object shorter than them the player vaults over it if he runs into it. Also interuptable via stagger from bullets.
All movement option should be avalible to all suits but should be based off speed and mobility of the suit. |
