Why does a guy not dying in a fully specced proto assault everything who has spent all kinds of sp and isk on making their fitting good get to be hailed as a god when someone who spends even greater effort on making their tank more powerful will always be a scrub? lol you are a silly goose. The thing is that tanks are way to OP in their current form. You have to rely on help from your team to take them out when there is no grouping system implemented. Next build I'm not going assault. I'm gonna go proto SMG proto swarms. I probably won't play next build due to the fact at how disappointed I am in this game. If I seem like a chest beating 12 year old or an ******* I apologize but you have to understand where I am coming from. I have been waiting for this game or about a year. I was told it was gonna take skill(complete lie). I guess I'm just disappointed at this point. Also I don't like the fact that when I'm trying hard in my AR fit I'll manage twenty to thirty kills with a five or six deaths. When I have gunned tanks, I can get twenty to thirty kills with 0 deaths while barely paying attention to what I'm doing. I don't think its way too fair. That's why I complain and *****.
I know vehicles are hard for many infantry to deal with, but infantry are nearly always the top scorers in the game. Every game.
We just need more anti-vehicle guys to make up for the imbalance. Proto SL/SMG is a good fit, this is what I am and given you're probably vastly better than I am with the DS3 you should be able to do well, especially given the SMG has a little bit more range now. Put a nanohive and some AV grenades and you should be able to keep the field clear of a lot of vehicles, as well as deal with a lot of infantry when you're done. |

it's basically a battery that can run low, and when it does, things don't work. guns/modules/etc. Basically it's a resource you can "war" against with electronic warfare, as well as use up by overuse. in EVE cap is a big deal.
I don't know how cap will affect dropsuits, but it could easily be implemented in vehicles. |

Thanks for the explanation! So everyone here thinks that this will be implemented? From what I've read, finite ammo in vehicles seems to be more popular with the masses of Dusters, and wouldn't render the vehicle useless, just require them to restock via a nanohive or supply depot. |

What a nightmare that would be.

Each module in EvE aside from guns is either passive or active, active modules take capacitor to run and need to be turned on to work. Passive work the opposite, they never take cap and never need to be on for the bonuses to apply.
Some weapons such as drones, projectiles and missiles don't require cap to fire so they are good especially in PvP and against certain NPC's that like to neut your cap. Obviously passive and active tanking is just that where other form to rely on your resists / shield regen to carry you through and the other is the more traditional form of tanking and most used in PvE where damage is low and happens over a very long time.
Since armour doesn't regen like shields it can never be used in PvE as a form of tank unlike passive shield fits.
There are two ways of cap warfare which are nosferatus (NOS) and energy neutralisers (NEUTS). Difference is that neuts drain more and have lower fitting requirements while nos drains less but gives a portion of it for you and have higher fitting requirements. NOS has been nerfed a bit lately but before that it god send with active tanking fits in PvE as it allowed you to leave out cap mods from you fit (since you sucked it from the enemy, duh).
The nerf is that you no longer drain with NOS if enemy cap is less then you own capacitor amount (%) which is kind of bleh so most go with just neuts now.
As a side note your cap regen peaks at near 30% just like passive shield regen, it's a bell curve so you regen less the fuller / thinner your shield / cap gets from either side of 30%.

Armour tanks, both buffer and active, can be used in pve. They are just much more specialized and not popular. Many faction war mission were go in, kill one specific rat, turn in. Buffer armour worked fine here, then again many ran those missions in pvp fits since they were in low sec and displayed on overview.
I could see cap on dropsuits, either modules with small enough drain to be cap stable, or pulsed when out of combat to repair armour fast the way hav do now. Cap recharge forming the cool down timer. Laser weapons heavy cap drain would use cap like blaster overheat (laser in eve have infinite ammo, but use a lot of cap, scramblers are a different tech then lasers, so the pistol could stay the way it is if lasers rifles/turrets work like eve.) |

You really think you should be indestructible. What gives you the entitlement.
Or maybe your not killing any tanks because you lack in skill. i have no problem kill sagaris with my advanced swarm set up. yes i do get against a driver that is very hard to kill here and there but for the most part i solo lots of tanks with just advanced set up. i am guessing proto works better. :)
And my blaster sagaris is not point and kill i have to be dead on target while moving 4 times the speed your little suit goes to get my kills. |

Tanks themselves aren't particularly OP. It's just they have a really bad habit of getting into situations where it's nigh-impossible to counter them without a dedicated AV-team. Same situation with dropship campers up on the towers. You can deal with them but it's a huge PITA to do so and you'll get roflstomped at least once in the process. |

ROFL your taking a super pro AR fit against tanks, of course your dead any chest beating 12 year old should be able to see that one. I admit with out grouping tanks are op but you have to realize a super pro HAV fit which you got raped by apparently takes at least 7 mil to get everything up to what I call a decent HAV. A good HAV is 15 mill and thats more then half of the average dust players sp. All this plus the fact that you can completely rip them open with proto assault forge guns and swarm launchers, I think they are fine and should not be reduced to paper mache. You do understand anything hard takes skill to do right and most people in an AR fit that say "im gonna shoot at this HAV" YOUR DOING IT WRONG. Unless that HAV is in the middle of your team and almost dead should you try to AR down any NON militia HAV. Bar that run and leave it to the Anti vehicle people because that isnt you. FIn. ****. |

DUST does take skills, far more than any other FPS I've seen so far. All of which had me bored out of my skill in a matter of days. It just doen't take YOUR definition of skill. Stop trying to demand that CCP make DUST into the same as all other FPS'es out there. Embrace the new.

20-30 to 5-6 is pretty damned decent stats, of course KDR means squat, if you don't add team support beyond that. And tank gunners on good tanks tend to rank up a lot of kills, while allowing the Tank driver to manoeuvre to stay alive, and help infantry to objectives. |

I think Cap, Neuts/Vamps would add another dimension to the game.
On the note of tank durability, Id say it is just right. I have never driven a tank, but have spec'd into forge. With a Grimlock forge and a couple damage mods on my tier 1 heavy suite I can tear up tanks pretty good. It is all on how you approach your prey. I always take my first shot at a tank from a covered spot just to see how much I'm going to impact them. Most of the time I can take them out in 3-5 shots. If the tank is well fit then I back off and wait for help to take it down as I'm obviously not going to solo it. It is less about how over/under powered something is and more about how you play your role on the battlefield. |

this statement, while appreciated, is a wrong way to go about it. simply because i like using tanks doesnt mean i dont know how to use a gun. Im tired of people assuming that simply because someone is a driver that means by default the player is a total invalid with a controller lol. Its just not the case. If anything, the people spouting leet skillz are the ones with tunnel vision for refusing to do nothing but play a small part of the game. I can drive and shoot while some others can just shoot. See my point? Im not saying you have only a single skill omni, im making a generalization. |

by that logic, they are scrubs since they use assault rifles. |

About the most true thing I've read on here. I run with my surya setup alot, depending on the situation. Some rounds I stomp and other rounds I get taken out easily with protoswarms. If you protoswarm behind me from where I am facing, I wont be able to turn fast enough to kill you before you move back to cover, so my only option is to hit reppers and run, with a 50/50 chance of making it out alive. Othertimes I can take out 4-5 dudes coming at me with swarms, and forge guns. |
