I already get roflstomped by strafing scouts with SMGs, and now they can roflstomp me from even further away. Am I the only one that feels this way? |

Yeah, well that's basically the only thing a Scout can do. It takes about 7 shots max to kill a Scout. |

The base effective range of the SMG is dismal at best, so a little bump would be nice. Dont get your panties in the bunch before actually seeing how much of a boost it is. An "increase" can be anything above a 0%, so if they butf it by 1% are you going to be upset? 5%? How much of an increase before its unacceptable? Short of the shotgun, the SMG has the worse range in the game, I'm sure you can find some weapon that'll out-range them. |

yo dude.. the SMG is supposed to be short range. it's a sidearm. but if the hit detection gets fixed then Scouts will be toast, so more worried about SMG heavies.. |

Also needs a DPS buff at least cos atm its super hard to kill like anything with the SMG.
Give it a 4x scope also and an underslung nade launcher.

I'm not saying it should not be short range, I'm saying that as it stands its REALLY short range and easily outclassed by most weapons in terms of range. A slight increase to the effective range would not be inappropriate.
Also with your logic about the whole sidearm thing...scrambler pistol has badass range and accuracy, so that argument is invalid. |

Just so everyone here understands.....comparing a smg to a pistol is pointless. they are different weapons. Do you compare a forge gun to a hmg? They are both heavy weapons, yes?

anyway, i feel the changes to the smg are nice and needed. Assault rifles are better anyway, and if you complain about smg's being better close range or some other uninformed complaint, stop using a creo and switch to a AR meant for close range with a higher ROF. Thats why there is usually more than one type of each weapon. |

As an SMG user, I've had to max out pistols just to have a sidearm that can hit at more than 20m away. |

ive put points into the sharpshooter for my heavy and it does help a bit for smg's. only problem is they still have a short range. People dont care tho and they still complain cause it doesnt fit their play style. |

anyway, webifiers are basically stuns. HUGE integral part of EVE that CCP is bringing to Dust as well. Just part of how CCP does things.
Like i said, based on what i know about you, you wont like them. Im not looking forward to webifiers either, makes my job as a pilot a lot harder. |

In eve, jammers make it so you can't shoot, disruptor that make your accuracy plummet, designators that make your hit box bigger, dampners that reduce sensor range so you can't see the guy right next to you, webs that reduce your speed, neut & nos that make active modules not work. All also have counters.
In real life, all the eavedropping, radar jamming, emp, chaff, radar/thermal decoys, ect...and all the counters to them. |

i also have been doing quite well with my forge gun fitting. Either way, im gonna be laughing pretty hard when all you guys who are so adamant in gun games skillz > life start to get webified.
Yes, anyone worth their salt is gonna be good with a gun. Yes, its a huge, significant part of any player's skill and effectiveness. The cool thing about Dust is there is a lot of stuff in this game so you can be more epic than just running around pew pewing. |

Problem I see with web nades is noobswarms just throwing them at thier own feet and saying bye bye to the milita fit while the Proto guys sit back and duckhunt.
Kinda have the same thing in eve wtih goonswarm rifters and yea it works. Saying that tho we dont have unequal team numbers so ...dont even know what I'm saying. |

I mainly used an AV assault fit this build that had a SMG as a sidearm and I didn't really feel the need for a buff. It was a lot of fun luring assault rifle users to follow me around a corner and then blasting their faces at ~2000 dps. Of course in the open field I could only attempt to run for cover, but then again it's my fault for being out in the open. All in all I'd estimate that I got more than half my kills from the SMG, which is a good ratio when you're specialized in using a Swarm Launcher.
However, before I make any judgement I'll wait how it turns out. Considering the Swarm Launcher now has limited ammo such fits will have to be more selective about their targets, which means they need to be able to last longer against infantry to be viable.
I'm really looking into the combination of the tactical AR with a SMG. Good damage from medium to long ranges from the main weapon plus a SMG that picks up where the tactical can't go might make for a seriously good fit. Add AV grenades and a nanohive and this might be an extremely versatile fit. |
