This is a true testing beta, not a beta to try to get people to get the game. You are used to betas where they are using them as marketing and a release date is imminent. This best is one for testing - this is the beta you don't normally get to particiapate in.
Also, the next build is August 23rd. Patience, grasshopper. |

I know that the game is in closed beta, but I am wondering when they are going to release it fully. I know that its still closed beta, and they may reset the characters or delete them to refresh the game during the closed beta. But I am wondering when they will say that its the last time and that they will not reset the characters anymore and that the progress that we earn on the characters will not be reset. |

I think the lengthy Beta is really important. Look at the angry FPS mob. CCP would do well to tackle their issues. I'd even go so far as to say I'd like to see them delay release if they aren't ready. Better to get things right on release. While I too am bored of the beta (didn't get bored at all last build) we just need to make it clear the things that matter to us. Yes, webifiers and cloaks are all good fun, but only if the basics are right. Cod4 wasn't complex, it was just damn good. Hence why thousands of people still play it, just like CS, quake and unreal tournament. |

Was there a plan like that? Because the most logical thing to happen is a full wipe before release. |

True.
The most i usually see is like some days of early access, but most certainly there will be a wipe uppon release. |

This is how true beta's work. If you would like more changes more quickly, you want to participate in a marketing beta and not a one designed to find bugs. New releases take time because they have to change the underlying code. These are not cosmetic changes - we are talking very low level (meaning source code) changes that have to be made.
If you are this frustrated, I would recommend you leave the beta until the game is ready for GA (general availability). |

The full release will result in a wipe of all character data other than name and birthdate of the characters. |

The mistake CCP made, was putting up 4? ambush maps and only 1 skirmish map. Nobody plays ambush. Your customer base doesn't care about TDM (for the most part) Most want the "deeper" game modes.
So when you have a beta with effectively 1 map, for a month, ppl get restless. |

So when you have a beta with effectively 1 map, for a month, ppl get restless. The TDM maps are probably out there just for testing, not for playability. Sure they're boring to those of us that are here now and looking for deep gameplay, but we still have to test them so that when the big CoD/BF type fans come - the ones looking for shallow gameplay - they don't have to deal with major bugs. It's all about testing, not just enjoyment. |

Yeah, I know that, but the question when will they release the game fully and do one last full wipe of the game. I hope it will be when they integrate the game with the eve universe online game. |

I would agree, except that if you're going to test... test the maps and game modes that ppl want to play. It's only logical to test the parts of the game that the vast majority of players will be utilizing. |

CoD is after all, by far the most popular FPS to date, and I believe that TDM is the most popular game mode in CoD.
Aside from that, you're basically saying "lets test the part that I want, make it great, and everybody else can **** off". Not really the friendliest view point, just sayin. |

lol, not sure what point you're trying to prove. But you're wrong. I didn't say that.
In fact you contradict yourself. By supporting CCPs implementation of multiple ambush maps, you are supporting a disproportionate amount of testing on ambush, with minimal testing on skirmish. Exactly what you're saying you don't want.
I'm not saying "do this, because I want it". The majority of players that will be playing this game, will want a "deeper" FPS. NOT my opinion, look at the numbers. 80-90% of the players play skirmish, NOT ambush. This is a FACT. Most of the players upon release will not play ambush.
Why? Because if you want TDM, you go to who does it best. ie: play COD, or whatever game. You don't play Dust for TDM, because Dust doesn't do it NEARLY as well as other FPS. |

What you aren't taking into account, is that the majority of the people in the beta, probably have an interest in EVE or other MMORPG games. They're here for the RPG and teamplay, for the testing, not for the "AAA moment to moment gameplay that you see in Call Of Duty or Battlefield" - as said by David Reid.
Also, I wouldn't mind playing Ambush, but you are correct - most people play Skirmish right now. However, it's like when you go to the movies with your friends - they want to see movie A, and you want to see move B, but you're going to see movie A anyway because who wants to go sit in a movie alone? People follow the crowd.
At launch, there will most likely be a very large number of people coming from CoD/BF/KZ3/other-FPS-games that are just checking it out, and the best gamemode for getting your feet wet will probably be Ambush.
The testing on Ambush vs Skirmish isn't disproportionate, the other maps just aren't really set up for Skirmish. In fact, I don't think Plateaus really makes the best Skirmish map either, it's just more suited for it than Communications or Biomass. |
