Tony Calif wrote:Yeah, they're way off the mark with making an FPS. They need to get the movement - Hipfire - ads -damage/health balance just right. It isn't right at the moment. If hit detection is like it was last weekend in the new build, I'll petty much give up. They really need I stop adding things, and perfect what is already here.
If you hang out in the IRC chat they went into a long length discussion of things not listed on patch notes.
CCP nothin said they fixed the 'compression lag' that caused scouts to turn into ghosts. I tried to logg all of it but no luck my posts was like 6 more down the list. We also asked ccp to 'update' the notes on points to most concerning to the players such as 'improved timing between animation and acutal reloading to match up smoother' Or further interate that "scoping will now interrupt sprinting and be a smooth animation doing so." ect ect.
Like the specialist weapon types they added which is just vanillia guns with lighter fittings.
Also know that the development team responsible for gun play only work on gun play those on art work on art ect ect. just right now there is alot of cross resroucing going on as so many things are involved with each other.
Another exmaple not detailed on the patch notes, They improved swarm launcher speeds, but also improved dropship handeling and how it takes and receives damage for hard landings and collisions.
They also 'improved' vehicle handeling but one lined its foot note as well.
The patch notes imo are just a very rough draft and not a good one of it.
Overall we'll have to wait for the patch to roll out offically BY 21st of august before we can start really complaining, all over again. Damn vicious development cycle, fix one bunch of things and the customers start complaining about the rest of it. |

Playing just a slight variant of the map. BORING! The statement on maps was an indication that we'll still be using the same planet, but that the actual "maps" we're presented with depends on what facility we're attacking, and what structures have been placed there. It generates maps based on several factors so that it's different each time if we make it different. Hell, since the testing systems are in null-sec already, I'm curious if I can set up some PI on the test planet. Im not sure but I think that our test planet is in Jove space.. So we can't reach it.
CCP hinted we're leaving battlemoon next patch. |

We havent had any new builds since e3 though. at least this build has promising staying power with the new terrain genreator.
Also this wasnt in the patch notes either but the beta 4x multiplier is going away as well. |

I'm curious what this build will have in it but the sustainability of this game will be built arounds the mechanics of an fps. Until they get those right, this entire game will be a gimmick ppl will play for a handful of months max
well from the looks of it we're leaving 'battlemoon' now and will be going to other planets first the first time. |

Gunplay is still an issue it needs to be smoother none the less, true the aim is being a bit better than CoD just right now with the flaws its not past that yet, remove the flaws and it will outshine in that aspect of gun play then we can start polishing eveyrthing else. Remember its up to us to get the the feedback ccp needs like complaining about not being able to break crouch by sprinting. |

Shadoe Wolf wrote:Just a comment on the PS2 talk. Been watching the live streams and reading chatter about the play so far. They seem to be having similar issues with hit detection and fps mechanics as well. And they do have quit a few crashes.
But back to DUST. Its quite possible the servers are part of hit detection. Can't wait to see how scouts will be affected. Maybe we can actually drop some of those speed freaks. Plus, if they tried to put every single fix, update, add on, etc., in the notes, who know how long that read would be. I'm sure they put the most important, and most called for changes in there.
I am a bit confused on when we will see the update. Maybe I just missed the clarification. I have heard we will see it the 21st. But notes say next week. When will we actually be able to play the new build?
In IRC chat they had this little birdy say the build might come out before the 21st but not later. |

Well if you played the replication build and you read the e3 patch notes, youll notice a crap tonn of improvments missing from the list.
Dust 514 does not have the best patch notes in the world. |
