First i will say that i own all current generation consoles but will amplify that by the fact i do not use them unless they have a platform specific title that i both want to play, and i cannot get on PC. I am also an EVE player. Next, i will say that I made purchase of a PS3 after not having one for about a year and a half, for the express purpose of playing this BETA.... i had to do so because i could not play said BETA on PC. If it were to be made on PC and distributed through something like Steam this game would have all the support it needed and a lot fewer b*tchy little blind-narrow minded console players that seem to adhere to the idea that a games depth and scope of content is unimportant and all methods of attack should simply be a choice of ascetic ideals, that have no measurable consequence. that is not to say that all console players are narrow of thought. or that PC gamer do not or can not have the simplistic tendency typically limited to the console demographic. i realize that this is not the only opinion of console gamer, and these words will be inflammatory however FAR too many exist for my comfort and this forum has attracted quite a few too many.
Now, let me clarify. I want this game to be the first FPSMMO to truly deliver a deep slow-building, satisfying and well rounded experience that adheres to strategy, preparation, coordination AND skill of combat. There are many among us that want the same. What seems to me is that too large a portion of people in the games i have played as of late, and here on the forums that want nothing more then a MAG or MW or COD clone to which they will max out the prestige in a caffeine filled weekend and then abandon it for the next shinier penny. Which is fine, those games exist for a reason. but don't bring that sh*t **** this close to EVE.
The next fact of the matter is hard wear superiority, on PC we would not have to deal with a console's limits granting us a game that looks as good and smooth as your rig can handle instead of a fixed and inferior resolution, smaller maps and lower body count engagements, that in many unfortunate ways diminishes what this game has a potential to become.
the only thing positive being a console game provides is game access to people whom cannot afford or do not wish to spend the $1500.00+ investment every 4 years for a good up to date rig, and the fact that console gamer tend to stick to their couches and CCP wants a little slice of that demographics pie. i get that, i know what CCP is trying to do... i do not necessarily support the way they are going about it but i still want, and have wanted to be a part of this game since late 2008 when i caught wind of its development and first got excited about what it could become. but to say I am a console player sir, is a joke to which i am the butt of. i do not wish to be a separatist or an elitist and i will continue to play nice with mercs that play this game the way it should be played, but the console is a platform of inferior structured limits. Limits, I must soldier through to play this game i want to be apart of, and is going to be an extension of something i love and have already invested a lot of time and money in to. all the while forcing myself to diminish my expectations of what this could be until it is released on PC... supposedly in fall of 2013 |
