I've been playing the Planetside 2 beta for 2 days now, and what I've continually noticed is that the 6 man squads that that game supports, just like Dust, large scale coordination is rather difficult. Right now, that's not an issue, but once the player counts start to increase, I'd say that 8-man or 10-man squads would allow a single squad to be more useful. |

8 man is good imo, but I'm a mag player, so I'm biased. |

Dust already has a squad system ;p its just that we can't invite people to our squads yet really.
I think already we can have up to 12 people in a squad by default.

What about seven since that's the limit for drop ships and will make organising plans involving drop ships easier |

Personally in my opinion you should never have more then eight men to any given squad. After that it sort of is not a squad, and defeats the tactical puprose of said squad. I myself I would never have more then six to my own squad. Myself included of course. I find that usually the smaller the squad, the more cohesive the unit, and tactically functionalilty is increased. You also draw less attention to yourselves with less people, and have less confusion among members.
Anyway that is my opinion. |

Eight is a good number. Although more is fine too.
No reason to limit to 6, Rorek.
While a squad can be bigger, there's no reason you can't sub-divide said squad into FireTeams, etc. (especially if you're gonna be all tactical) |

Personally, I like 8 man squads, and 32 man platoons (4 squads, for anyone that might be as slow as I am). Unfortunately, team sizes in Dust will be limited to 24 at launch, so I'm going to be a little bit stuck. But it does explain the 6 man squads. |
