Depends on the context.
When a squad stacks that means they're all moving as a group and chances are somone is telling everyone to shoot a certains ome one. This can be applied to tanks as well.
The other context is module stacking
Stacking certain modules penalizes the full effect, I dont exactly remember the penalization numbers but it would be along the lines of 50% + 50% =/= 75% but more of a 65% |

"Going heavy with..."
If you stack damage, you're more likely going to use weapon upgrades instead of shield modules. If you want to stack heavy armor then you use plates. etc |

1. When you stack two or more damage mods of the same type.
2. When you stack two or more resistance mods of the sameg type.
3. etc.
The only exception are the CPU and PG upgrades as they are the only ones that don't get penalized when stacked. |

Erm some unusual explanations there, Stacking penalties mean you don't get the full effect of a second or third module that affects the same attribute, for example a complex damage mod gives 10% bonus to damage, however fitting 3 of them will not give you 30% bonus, "stacking" the second one is penalised so you might only get 8% and then a third is usually penalised more severely, so you might only get 5% so your 3 modules would give you say 23% bonus instead of the 30% you were expecting.
Edited : this should work for mixing complex and basic etc. So long as they're affecting the same attribute they should be penalised, but I've read someone suggesting this isn't working properly and a basic + advanced + complex will actually give you more bonus than 3 complex, though I haven't tried this or heard it confirmed, it shouldn't work this way on release anyway.
And as far as I know there's no reason cpu or pg upgrades would be excluded from the stacking penalties, I thought they were penalised in eve, unless someone knows any different. |

I'm guessing you've never played an RPG before?
Say you have two things with the same effect. If they stack, then that means both effects are added or otherwise combined. If only one of those takes effect, it means they don't stack. |

Stacking is basically trying to stack the same type of bonus to get a higher benefit. As an example:
I have a 50% damage bonus. I then get 2 more 50% damage bonus modules. Say my base dmg is 100, a person might be expecting to get this:
100 + 50% = 150 (50 dmg bonus) 150 + 50% = 225 (75 dmg bonus) 225 + 50% = 338 (113 dmg bonus)
OR
100 + 150 = 250 (150 dmb bonus)
depending on the game, depends on how the stacking works. Whether is cumulative or off of base. Bascially in EVE and DUST (and other games out there), as you "stack" bonus', if they offer a bonus to the same attribute, you will get diminishing returns. So instead of the above a person may get this:
100 + 50% = 150 150 + 20% = 180 180 + 5% = 189
OR
100 + 50 + 20 + 5 = 175
So after the second bonus, there is no reason to add another-one because it's of no use anymore. Each time you added in the bonus, it gave you less return - you didn't get the full amount. |
