I would like to apologize ahead of time if this has been previously discussed by others, but I found no mention of it. While browsing the forums, a thought came to me. Will there be any maps that have bodies of water, and possibly boats as vehicles? The picture at the XMB menu on the PS3 looks like it has water in it, but I still ask: Will there be boats?
EDIT: Btw when I posted this I was thinking of a smallish island in the center of a map with a extremely vast ocean surrounding it, where ships possibly as big as aircraft carriers with massive guns are blasting the sh*t out of each other. I just wanted to give you an idea of the scale that I was thinking of.
EDIT AGAIN: Just thought of something else, these ships could be owned by DUST players and be "parked" in areas outside of the playable area, but similar to EvE player's spaceships with orbital strikes, they could fire artillery down into player-filled area. |

That comment makes no sense at all. If you are in a turret, on a boat, looking through the eyes of your character in First Person, and Shooting a large artillery turret, guess what? It's still a First Person Shooter (FPS). Even if you are a commander, looking down at the map calling in said artillery strikes, its still an FPS game. Vehicles and boats and spaceships don't make it any less an FPS, they just make it that much better.
I personally think they should remove third-person from vehicles, unless they make it available via a drone that follows behind and the vehicle like in EVE, except make the ones in Dust destructible to force players into first-person.
.... Off to post a thread about said suggestion. |

water maps , lava maps etc, all bring uniqe gameplay to a fps game i hope ccp do more to make dust a more unique, fun fps that is different , but fun from other generic fps games. lets face it when i load up a fps game on my ps3 it's all the same, i have a gun i shoot people with, a anti vehicle weapon to kill vehicles , vehicles to drive on generic terain. more randomness please ccp. |

I want a flying bycycle that shoots machine guns on the ground, fires forge charges from the air and can drop depth charges for yellow submarines. It would also be nice if I could deliver ice creams to injured mercs. |

I guess the foot soldiers could fight it out at the bottom of the lake.
Unless we have some sorta flotation device built into our suits.

@ Darkz azurr - With any luck that'll be the case. Would be interesting to see if you could get some mean air-time with a nano'd up LAV on a low gravity planet - drive it up a ramp and fly all the way to an objective. Who needs dropships anyway? |

I think I would like water, maybe streams and rivers and lakes could dot the map and rovers and such could push characters a bit, or larger heavy stuff could sink in deeper bodies of water. Heavys stuff could also get bogged down crossing creeks and wading rivers. If they ever add random wheather effect rain could cause streams and rivers to flood creating conplete new characterstics to the battlefield. being in water cloud mess up certian e war stuff and cloaking.
On another note having large bodies of water near land or rigs(oil rig like things, eve style) and making them large hard to cross obstocals for ground forces, as well as providing us with small water craft like D day lander for a water version of APC and dropships. And a gunboat thats like a water based LAV. However I wouldnt want player controled ships and majority of water combat I think having bodies of water forming obsticals and effects to the landscape will add to dust though. |

This idea is good imho and opens the game up to a wider array of possibility, especially if said ships could be boarded for control (no reason why you can't steer at the helm and have those on the ship man the battle stations). With a large water environment you could probably witness some amazing dogfights between the eventual fighter jets and (maybe) frigates entering into the "burn zone". Drop Ships could ferry infantry between battleships/carriers and out-maneuver AA guns or players manning battle stations.
Though as many said I can't see this being implemented until 2013... but who knows, maybe someday we could infiltrate capital ships! I'm just getting ahead of myself now... |

Thats an aspect I have not considered. The possibilities are endless. However I would suspect this would have to be an NPC cap ship.
