I was wondering. Is the 2009 Fanfest build dead? Because it did a lot of things better than this one. Vehicles looked better, it was smoother, LAV controls and physics were great, it looked smooth.
So what happened?

I don't think much about that build was ment to stay. Probably just shinier graphics to make that demo look better |

I've been wondering about this myself, it looks a lot more fun. Maybe that was being made on pc or something. |

Yeah they definitely need to fix the physics on the LAV, gravity effects that thing so awkwardly. |

Right now the graphics are dumbed down. I expect them to be toned up on release. |

Be careful what you wish for... you just might get it. Swarm Launchers (of DOOM) and all.
I'd like vehicle controls to be gas/brake style instead of current controls. Is it Halo's point-move? Is it racing? i can't tell! Not critical but definitely appreciated if it was looked at.
Looked better? if the graphics were downgraded, it was to make up for the new lighting for beta performance and quick patching. On release, they will be much better! |

it does look smoother, and the maps look more intricate. This game has been stuck in development hell! |

With all the variables that dust 514 has packed into it, including full EVE online integration, expect the graphics to improve only slightly. Afterall the ps3 isn't a high end pc so you have to expect certain areas to be dumbed down |

look at all the pc knights. . . well can't argue with them, a high end pc is obviously better than a ps3. . .
But i'd like to remember them that there is still room for improvement (graphical wise) - there are good examples like Uncharted or Heavy rain (Although i have to admit that i dont think that they use the unreal engine).
But i'd really like to see the Lighting engine that was promised ( look at that: http://www.geomerics.com/news/dust514.html ), it seems that games like Battlefield 3 use the same lighting engine. |

Ummm... that video resolution is a whopping 360p... how can you tell the graphics are 'shinier'?
Gotta admit though, if CCP dropped Unreal4 on us (Please!), it would be a VERY nice surprise! |

CCP has said that they plan to support DUST long after the release of PS4, so an Unreal4 version of DUST landing a few months to a year into the PS4 life span is not too unlikely an event.^^ |

i love how it has indoor and outdoor combat, also that black ar is nice, like the sights on it. single fire rocket launcher is sexy too (wish it was player guided like the at4 from bad company 2, would be hell of a fun weapon). nice sniper rifle at 6:48 also, underbarrel grenade launcher and decent lav physics. nice lav too |

Concerning the PS4 I bet the engine will be based on the CCP engine.. can't recall the name right now. I'm just sure that the current PS3 engine was chosen to have a steady base for the game before turning the inhouse engine (which CCP always stated to be VERY adaptable) into FPS mode. |

im sorry did we play the same build, beucase everything look worse than this build, a lot of stuff was very very buggy, for example HD just didnt work in some cases, the LAV controls were a lot lot worse, never really noticed the physics and oh yeh it froze your PS3 every 3 games
im going to have disagree, what it did better does not match up the long list of things it did wrong.
nostalgia is very dangerous thing go back and play an old PS game that you used to love and it will suddenly not be as good as you remember, always bear that in mind with older builds |

For those people misunderstanding: Icy Tiger is not talking about the previous beta build. He's talking about the prototype CCP showed at Fanfest in 2009. Watch the video he linked. And I don't agree that this game looks better or more fun than the Dust we know today. Two people shooting each other with a rifle and a rocket launcher between a lot of grey concrete? Not really that impressive. Yes, the LAV looks nice, but so do the current ones. And fighter jets will come into Dust at one point or another, it's not like CCP has thrown away everything they did since then, especially not the experience they've gained. As for the prototype, that's what you do a protype for, to throw it away and then make something better. Also, Dust has very nice lighting, just look around in the merc quarters. |

I want capes, if Dust is put on Carbon, I want to be able to put a cape on my merc. |
