Does sony say that they can't release details until they approve it or is CCP just wanting me to have the longest 3 days ever?

To answer your question. Yes, it does take sony an excessive amount of time to approve these builds. They it's in order to make sure it doesn't interfere with other aspects of their network (which they have proven they are perfectly capable of messing up well on their own). The E3 Build took almost 2 weeks for Sony to approve. |

The tone and verbiage of several Dev posts from late last week led me to suspect that Sony either had some kind of 'no communication' to customers clause in effect or CCP has such a policy in place.
I got the sense that they (CCP) were frustrated with the delay but still couldn't go on record with any info
Thus, again, I respectfully ask for a point of contact@ Sony, such that the fledgling DUST community can politely inform them of our growing concern with what is commonly perceived as an unreasonable delay in progress.
And I would point out, again, that this and other unavoidable dissatifiers can be substantially mitigated through open and transparent communication. |

Seeing as Sony posted a huge loss for the last quarter, I hope they won't be pulling the rug on anything related to Dust. I'd go crazy mad at them! |

Well the PS3 sales estimate was the only thing that stayed consistent with actual results. Sony is bleeding money in Tv's, PS Vitas and personal computer sales. Add 11.3 billion Yen in restructuring charges and you have a pretty rough quarter.
TV sales are what is really causing the biggest crack in Sony's armor.
Sony is a company with great history but many are doubting they have the skill to right this financial ship.
Edit #2: If anyone wants to look at their Q1 results, the link is below.

TV sales are what is really causing the biggest ***** in Sony armor. They are usually overprice that's why. In the current economy people will go with the cheaper brand even if it's no way near as good. From what I heard about the vitas they were a waste of money, if they concentrate on being less of a casual gaming console they could do well. |

TVs sales are hurting everyone. Everyone wants OLED now and the loan on the Plasma TV factories have yet to be paid off yet.
The glass is the major bich of them all too being the most expensive part of the monitors.
Also CCP says Soon(tm) on the simple grounds that chances are its beyond the developers control on how quickly they can get it out or they do not have enough information to definitivate anything I suspect the former at this point. |

And I read that the Sony remake of total recall didn't meet box office expectations this weekend
Hey, Sony, focus on cross platform massive player interactive entertainment!
Liiiike, I dunno, anyone got a good idea for a game they could support in that area? |

Yep, a TV manufacturer who fails to anticipate a changing market will be in a world of hurt financially.

Sounds like Apple's problem in the 90s. Too many products that were either too expensive or lower quality. |

Like Apple now, Sony does have a lot of cash to work with. There is no doomsday declaration from me yet, but upper management should really focus on how to adjust while becoming a profitable entity again. |

Yeah, but their LCD/LED TVs are considered to be pretty good, just a little pricey.
The biggest prob (as I see it) is that there is a huge number of moderately low priced TVs (not the uber cheap stuff) that are relatively good in quality, at like half the cost.
Most consumers are willing to sacrifice a little quality, to stay within a particular budget. |

I always liked the way Sony TVs looked and they always had good specs but so do many others. My current TV is a Philips and I love it. My next one will probably be a Samsung due to their no-frame design and Smart TV features.
Sony were rumoured a year ago to be working on an Android powered 3D TV. That is a game changes I would buy in an instant. But I'm a special kind of geek...
Edit: My original point was that Sony TVs are good but more expensive than others with pretty much the same specs. I missed out the price part. |
