To me, It sounds like the complaints are about stuff that should be fixed by release. The one exception being nerf vehicles, I disagree with this one.(I have killed multiple marauders in single game with standard scout and assault suits with different weapons) Killing vehicles takes teamwork, vehicle driver not knowing what they are doing, lots of practice to solo, or vehicle was militia therefore made of paper. I love seeing three hav bumping into things, sure sign of multiple vehicle kills and almost 1/2 million isk at end of match.
The comment about game getting boring, this should be fixed in beta. Not an excuse, they need feedback from testers to fix this. The lack of maps, grouping, player corps, sandbox elements, and glitched comms seem to be main culprits. All should be fixed by release. If not fixed game may fail, but being connected to EvE may linger half dead for a while till fixed then start growing long after release. So, two chances instead of most playstation games one, far better to get it right with first live then second.
Only the skilled players can go everywhere, many spots on map are very hard to drive thrue with out getting stuck and killed. With time and many dead tanks players develop skill. Not all the weapons work well as splash, the rail is a pain to aim, the blasters don't have any useful splash, the rockets are splash. Everyone seems to be favoring rockets, so the problem may be rockets not the vehicles.
I have killed sagaris and surya with av grenades and smg, they are not invincible. The dropships out running the swarms is annoying, but they can still be hit by firing the swarms to lead them. They also are not hitting anything while evading, the weapons aim is glitched to fire in ways that make no sense when going that speed. The swarms suppress them at least.
The rumored map size of 5km is the same as entire fallout 3 rpg map, with out vehicles it would take 10-20min to get to objectives. We may have big maps like that with 2 or 3 biomass type complexes containing the objectives in the future. This type of map would be impossible too win with out both infantry and vehicles. There may also be tight maps that are vehicle death traps, and wide open tank duel maps.
One map with one mode(ambush does't count) and most of the vehicle, dropsuits, and gear yet to be added is not enough to tell if vehicles in general need nerfed.
The tower camping dropship rocket spam should be fixed, It is not a glitch to get up there. It is boring for the spammer, and very annoying to be killed by. They can be killed by hav rails, other dropships, forge gun, and mass driver (swarm hits tower most of time), so there are counters. Still seems like a tactic that needs toning down. Maybe just alter the flight path of swarms so they arc up and over a little more and come from above, they already do this vs hav(annoying vs hav since they bang into things above them). |
