Based on what I've seen so far, ABSOLUTELY NONE of the dropsuits have any bonuses to certain weapon types, modules, external benefits, or actually modifications or advantages whatsoever... The only differences are HP/Speed/CPU/PG and Slots... That being the case, that makes Command and Pilot dropsuits seem like they will have no place whatsoever in this game... What use does a commander or pilot have for any of those statistics in himself? The only benefit would be for the pilot to have enough PG and CPU and 1 equipment slot so he could at least equip a repair module, and other then that there would be no other benefits if they didn't add specific statistic effecting elements for modules or vehicle use, or command elements...
The reason I bring this up is because I'm already incredibly disappointed by the lack of any sort of specialization present in any suits... Such as heavies that start out with resistance modifiers, or scout suits that gain multipliers to speed (Not just an initial boost), or assault suits with multipliers to shield regen, or logi with similar multipliers to support mechanisms... These are all the sorts of things you see in EVE, so one could invest to make a good logistics ship designed to aid shield tankers for example, one should be able to do the same in Dust... As it stands the best armor tanking assistance logi is the EXACT same suit as the best field resupplier by virtue of the fact that its just prototype... Prototype is the only variation, the only ultimate goal, and its all exactly the same **** as before, just more... Its so mind-numbingly dumbed down and simple its ridiculous...
Don't get me wrong there is ALWAYS a place for a good jack of all trades ship, no one would hate on the Machariel in EVE, or the Hurricane for that matter (Minmatar in case you can't tell)... However, these generalist ships aren't the norm and shouldn't be, advertise them primarily, but at least put in some more specialized variants for those of us who want a little more depth to our builds...
And getting back on topic... IF YOU DON'T implement this sort of statistic modification that allows external changes by the suit and forces them to specialize, then you WILL hamstring your ability to make good effective command suits and pilot suits... These suits should have statistics other then the normal ones, that effect vehicle statistics, MCC statistics, other players statistics, field range statistics, ECM statistics... They shouldn't just be HP/Speed/CPU/PG and Slots....
If you disagree please include your suggestions for these suits, I'd gladly hear them maybe I'm overlooking something. |

I wouldn't mind seeing all six types of dropsuit having a variant for each of the 4 peoples i.e.:
Caldari: Heavy Assalut Logistics Scout Pilot Commander
Minmatar: ""
Amarr: ""
Galente: ""
And of course each variant would have different suits available for levels 1-3, advanced and prototype. The same could reasonably go for vehicles. The way it is now, it seems like each race? only utilizes one type of soldier on the battlefield, and of course that just isn't how war is waged.
Synergies could even come into effect with racial dropsuits coordinating or working under a commander of the same race. I would absolutely love to see this.
EDIT: Especially once the pilot suit is released, I would love to see dropsuit modules that apply bonuses to vehicles, or synergize with them somehow. |

That seems a reasonable statement... I seriously hope your right, if upon release there are no specializations... Very upset this one will be... |

I know people hate it when we drag EVE into it, but it is the "mother universe" for DUST, and there we have such a wide verity of ships it is quite frankly bewildering that anyone can keep track of them all, most have bonuses and buffs for specific roles. I am 99% certain that this customizability will be implemented in DUST as well, though there will probably be fewer different types of suits. |

Eventually there will be a racial suit for each variant.
So Minmatar will have an assault suit. Gallante a logistics suit, Amarr a scout suit etc.
There may or may not be a racial variant for each weapon. As it looks like the have all the bases covered (pun intended). |

I thought command suits were the only ones able to fit command modules?. Whatever they may be. I'm sure I heard/read that somewhere a while back.
As for the pilot. Presumably they'll be the only ones able to pilot vehicles, I'm guessing it'll be like a variant of the scout or something similar.. |

I hope so. I really want to see pilots as specialists instead of everyone being able to fly around in their own vehicles and then hop out and be fully combat effective on foot also. |

EDIT: Especially once the pilot suit is released, I would love to see dropsuit modules that apply bonuses to vehicles, or synergize with them somehow. what i understand of the devs plans for dust is that this is how it will be and id imagine each suit will have diffrent bonuses to weopons tank or other factors. As for weapons id would imagine that each weopon class have difrent weapons for the 4 races. Like the amar would realy let gallente build an assult rifle without building one of there own. If ud notice almost all the weapons were playing with seem to be eather gallente or caldari desighn leaveing us to wait and see about amar and minmatar who currently only have a pistol and a hmg in the game. The above could be held true to the vehicles aswel only caldari and gallente are ruling the war zone. Viehicle weopons as well may i point out are also ruled by gallente and caldari.
Based on all this i figure that the devs are holding back the bonuses in skills, dropsuits, and veihices til they get everything implemented. This holdout is also probaly a case of making shure we dont specialize to heavily and give feedback on all items in eve |
