I have been playing with a heavy machine gun lately and noticed that it doesn't have very much killing power and find my self getting killed by assault rifles often. when I went to compare assault rifles to HMGs I found the stats disturbing. In a fight that ALL bullets fired hit, the HMG does 400 damage per second (DPS) at the standard level, 440 DPS at the advance level and 480 DPS at the prototype level. The Assault rifle does a 375 DPS at standard, 412.5 at advance and 450 at prototype. Those stats wouldn't be as bad if not for these points.
1. The range and accuracy of an AR is much greater than that of a HMG
2. The versatility of the AR is also greater, you can use an AR with a heavy or scout dropsuit but you cant use a HMG with an Assault or scout dropsuit
3. Moving slower makes you an easy target for the AR at any sort of range
4. For all bullets to hit and the DPS numbers to be accurate, the HMG using player needs to be extremely close
5. even though the HMG has a much larger clip size, you pay for it with an 8 second reload time opposed to the ARs 3 second one, and the HMG overheats.
Now in conclusion CCP I am not asking for all the above to become better for the HMG, I still think that the AR should beat it under the right circumstances but I think the Heavy dropsuit and Machine gun combo needs buffing. Thank you for your time. |

I think the hmg should have some medium range cababilitys but give it a slower turning speed to compensate, and increase the damage its a Heavy machine gun it should be ripping soft target apart, I mean I think this thing should be shooting the equevalent of 50 caliber rounds, the gun doesnt need fire rate increase(actually lower it) but increase the damage and range, and keep the reload time as is. This weapon needs to be able to mow down assaults and most assault enage target at mid range this weapon should compare, but it shouldnt be to much of a threat to scouts or someone flanking it so give it ablow turning speed. |

i spawned in at terminal B as it had been hacked i know only one guy was camping it
assault suit with credron took out my heavy suit in less than half a clip
i was in a heavy suit 1200 armor/shield total using proto HMG forgetthe name thing its boundless
i spawned facing the guy and hit trigger soon as screen loaded and i fired till the weapon over heated he was too close to be out of range and he wasnt moving
i litrally did this twice to take him out and then proceeded to rehack as i only just managed to spawn the second time b4 terminal turned red
this shouldnt happen assualt dueling with a heavy (stood still like in an old western having a pistol duel at dawn on the street)

Is this a joke? The first overly sarcastic post was fine but i really hope it's not a trend.
The heavy gun OWNS from 0 meters to 40 meters. Hands down nothing beats it.
EDIT: When i see a heavy walking around with his gun I run and wait until my AR has the tactical advantage. If an AR sticks close and fights it out, the heavy wins. |

i honestly think that they should just remove the hmg from there list of weapons. I see way to many people complain about the fact that its over powered when in fact it is supose to be used on the tanks and drop ship. I used the hmg in the first and this build and i love using it. but my thought on the issue is if i use the A-10 tank busters gatling gun do you hear the enemy hey that is to powerful you need to tone it down i should have a chance. no your there to kill so stop whining or CCP just fix the issue and remove the HMG and then all those AR guys can whine about something else like the forge guns. |

You got that kinda backward, mate. Its the Forge Gun that is for vehicles, and believe me they're already whinging about it. As for the HMG, it's supposed to trade movement speed for superiority against 'soft' targets... and for christ's sake, don't nerf the turning speed. All it'll do is cause people to raise their sensitivity, plus its already impossible to track a scout any closer than five meters. |

+1 OP i feel your pain Do NOT judge the HMG before you try it out, its not that badass as you think it is. All HMG users (especially who used it in the last build) agrees it had been over-nerfed and the current state of the HMG is unbalanced and needs critical fix. |

It'd be cool if the HMG could "deploy" like machine guns in other FPS games. Become immobile and with a narrow field of fire, but greatly increase the accuracy and stability of the gun. Like the heavy bolter from Space Marine, or something. |
