Planetside 2 has motion blur, better looking guns, and better looking gun gameplay. Other than that, Dust look like its going to be the better game. Both will be good, but Dust will be better because it looks like Dust has more to offer than just graphics and guns.
Dust has more Factions than Planetside 2, Dust has multiple corporations, Dust is connect to a massive online game on the pc (the first to connect console with pc), Dust economy/trade/money system look better, and Dust lasting appeal looks better. The purpose of Dust 514 is more interesting than planetside 2 even though they kind of similar, but Dust is way more deeper. It's more stuff that Dust has to offer, but I still need to learn more. Here is a list of things I want to see added sooner or later.
1.) Gun gameplay improvements 2.) I want to have a gun with a flashlight or laser attachment (Especially on Dark planets) 3.) Dual Pistols FTW 4.) Remote Drones/better kill feed 5.) I want the texture graphics to improve and if possible add motion blur. 6.) A lot of different pistol types and knife types added to the market. 7.) A female sidekick and a Heavy too and if possible a midget. I'm not joking. Edit: I'm joking about the midget lol 8.) I want the option to customize everything's appearance. I want vehicles, weapons, and dropsuits all able to be customize. Such as if I was on a dessert planet. I want my gun, dropsuit, and vehicle to be an dessert fatigue or some kind of dessert color just like if I was on a water planet I would want blue or black colors.
Well this my opinion and I think Dust 514 is going to be better than planetside 2. I have some more opinion coming soon.... |

Have you played Planetside 2 yet? Maybe you should play it and then decide which you prefer. Either way though both games are fairly far from release, so it's a bit premature to hedge your bets one way or the other. And despite Dust's customization, the depth it's meant to have won't show up until sometime in 2013 anyway. |

I know they far from release. I just think Dust 514 will be better because of lasting appeal.
No, I haven't played it yet. But I watched a lot of videos about it.

Apples and Oranges m8, Dust will be more in depth with community and PS2 will be more in depth with customisation on suits vehicles and weapon. One will have limited battle size another will have thousands. The only common things I see are very generic. both FPS both have vehicles both take place in the future. |

They both have Fictions too. But it looks like Dust has 5 and planetside has 3. Planetside is about taking over bases, while dust is about taking over planets. |

Judging by what you listed..it sounds like you want Planetside 2.
Dust is a good game for consoles, but Planetside 2 is going to be amazing. Not to mention the way SOE has their cash shop set up is better than DUST (you can't buy weapons/armor). I'm sure there is still a lot to be revealed regarding bothe games. |

Planetside 2 is not that much better in combat. It only looks prettier right now. I just like the guns and gun attachments on Planetside. lol its funny because on planetside the knifing is the same as Dust. It take multiple hits to knife someone. |

Planetside 2 looks to play like BF3 (on the PC) where DUST unfortunately has framerate/clunkiness issues. Feels that way to me anyway. All FPS on the console feel clunky to me though. I'm sure I'll play both, but the AUR thing in DUST has me a little worried and the faction loyalty that comes with PS2 is pretty appealing. |

The Aur thing got me worried too. I seen Planetside 2 beta and they have framerate/clunkiness issues too. Well they going to have it too trying to fit thousands of players on they game. I think when both of the games come out, those issues will be gone. But right now, they both have them. Plus they both got Factions . Dust has 5 and planetside only has 3. Im sure u can have loyalty in dust too |

Theres a limit the ps3's Cpu and memory will do with games like Dust 514 dont expect fancy shiny effects with lots of different options. PS3 can just cope with Dust as it is right now.. anymore and the LOD will have to drop even further. Planetside is for PC and therefore can cope with what a ps3 would struggle with. |

Honestly, I think besides being scifi MMO's and first person shooters, Dust 514 and Planetside 2 are really apples and oranges. Dusts main attraction is going to be the strategic value of the battles you play in (taking actual, permanent installations if you win) versus Planetside 2 where its by definition, an endless war that is just for fun. True, there are definitely strategic elements in Planetside 2, but not nearly to the same extend as a combined Dust + EVE universe.
Meanwhile Planetside 2 has stronger gunplay (tech test approved!) and is across the board more balanced because theres no disparity between equipment, at least not to the degree that exists in Dust. (Such unbalance in Dust is arguably intentional, and will be much more appropriate to the sandbox style this game will be at launch). The biggest difference however, is obviously that Planetside 2 is 666v666v666 while Dust will be 24v24. No matter how you argue it, that fact alone makes the two very hard to compare objectively.
Comparing the two is pretty unfair because at the core of it, Dust 514 and Planetside 2 will play dramatically different even if both are FPS's. I personally, will be playing both and will enjoy both :) |

But they are the first to connect two completely different platforms together. Final fantasy online was the same game across platforms, while Dust and Eve are exclusive and have entirely different engines. |

They did say initially it will be 24 v 24, but the team sizes will increase dramatically in the near future after the launch....That is why the maps will be so spectacularly big! The larges maps will be 5km in relation to the players.....I can't wait |

They've said that if you can run Battlefield 3 you can run Planetside 2. Which is to say you'll need a decent PC to run it well, sure, but that's part of being a PC gamer. If you aren't a PC gamer then whether Planetside 2 or Dust is better is kind of a moot point.
Planetside 1 had the same three factions and general style of gameplay and there was actually a great deal of teamwork. Outfits (Planetside clans) could take entire bases on their own with a handful of well-coordinated, good players, even in the midst of hundreds of other people fighting. Certain outfits were even famous for their effective, coordinated tactics, like KAAOS on TR/Emerald, who'd show up to a fight with dozens of attack aircraft, strafe the hell out of the enemy, and then bail out to take a tower and advance the front.
As much as I like Dust, and find its prospect of deeper gameplay more appealing than the easy-come-easy-go nature of Planetside, both games will have their places. But before you start bashing Planetside, you should check with people who played the original and are currently playing its beta to see what's-what. |

^^^ This
I can't really say which is better either. played PS1 for 3 years, and the teamwork on there has been miles ahead of anything ive played on ps3 thus far.
The appeal of PS2 is that, yes you have large sized battles with dozens of vehicles. When a guy could coordinate with 3 different groups in 3 different areas and organize a full-scale attack is something awesome. Same thing with PS2 from what ive seen, it may not have countless planets but every inch of the map is used. The ability to set up situations based on what your army has and how many people rather than map design is my main appeal to that game.
The same thing is going to apply to DUST to just in a different way. It's just that it's going to be applied in a different style.
I'll be playing both

The question is do you want a 20 minutes game where it comes up at the end with how you did, everyone else d and who won? Or do you want a game with thousands per side, where 99.9% of everything you do is pointless in the grand scheme of things? Much as I'm not impressed by Dust's FPS side, I like clan battles, and the epeenery and bragging rights that go with it. Ps2 doesn't have that. Just constant mad war. Most everything else is cosmetic/mechanic differences. The feel of "win" is good in computer games, and I can't help but think that PS2 will be lacking like that same a PS1. |

Planetside 2 just looks like a more in depth Tribes, which is pretty cool but a more dynamic Tribes vs the depth of the CCP universe? Yeha I'll go with CCP.
CCP is the only company I've ran across that actually evolves there game (soon to be games!) in not just pithy ways but broad and daring changes. If they can bang out content and graphical overhauls like as in EVE then they have a dedicated player that even though he despises micro transactions will actually do some in this game because he knows they'll do right by the money.......
