So you have a Headset and Mic congrats! 1. Dont play music with the mic on; I trust you love what ever sound that is but we can hear only half of it and even if its clear we would rather talk then listen to your music so turn the mic off if your gonna jam out. 2. Put your dog, kids, other TV and friends in another room. No one can here anything through the headset if any of these are making noise and no one wants to here you talk about your child support payments and work out regime (real incidents). This is just like shooting range you just **** people off if you try to bring kids 3. Make sure your mic works; Everyones been in a game where all you here is garbled crap from one guy who feels its his responsibility to "talk" to the team but not fix his mic 4.Keep idle conversation to minimum; I know your in a video game with other gamers who love games but when the topic strays to far from "help C, I wish/want that" it gets a bit nauseating to here your hopes and dreams. 5.Once again if your gonna use your mic make sure its not picking up any ambient sound; The mic and head set is used for a purpose and its to provide a small bit of team work, not to hear any sound from whiny children, animals, machines, music or any other noun. If your wondering why people are redlining and dropping from your team check your mic and if your have some loud sound in the background. YOU LOSE GAMES IF YOU ARE ANNOYING YOUR TEAM BECAUSE THEY WONT TOLERATE ANY OTHER SOUND THEN DUST AND TEAMWORK.

"Yeah, sure!" -a little while later- "Good, you're here. Now sit over there, be quiet and LEAVE ME ALONE!" *Slams door*
Lol good point but Dust isnt a social game right now; its no smash.

Fin. You will be a lonely player Lol Im not playing this game for the social interaction I get that from real life This is a social game. You do realize that right?
ROFL you also realize this is a FPS beta that has no text chat, grouping or social interaction besides the few people with mics shouting over that one guys dog who wont shut up and killing each other. Hell I get more social interaction walking my dog then playing Dust, that being said I dont play dust for the social interaction. |

Yes lots of chat happens in text chat especially mid battle, since you have to stop everything else to text, I defiantly see all the people you talk to on text chat. Thats sarcasm but seriously until the next build comes with grouping and the like the social functions are vestigial at best, you can claim these are great social functions but in comparison to COD, Halo, or what they said they will add this is the bare minimum that should be in almost every FPS these days. I agree this will be a very social game but untill the randomness of joining games and lack of any semblance of tiered play its is at worst chaos at best a small group that recognizes each other from random games in the past that got randomly put into the same game that have mics and work together. If you enjoy this kind of social interaction eat it up but I prefer actually being with people and Interacting with them, you know in the real world. As much as social media has developed you shouldn't rely on these for any significant portion of your social needs, if you are it isnt healthy no matter what excuses you make for the behavior. |

As much as social media has developed you shouldn't rely on these for any significant portion of your social needs, if you are it isnt healthy no matter what excuses you make for the behavior. In the current game you are correct but how do you know in the upcoming update? Plus, he said there was no text chat and I pointed out that there was. I didn't say though how useful it was. Read what I typed not what you think I meant.
Its in relation to social interaction, so therefore it must be used in practice by actual people to socialize and this text chat obviously isnt. It doesnt matter if you quantified it as useful or not, you used it as evidence of social interaction in this game and it is clearly being ignored by a great majority and only used by few. Empirically this mean little social interaction is going on, whats your point? Besides the random mic chat there is little to no social interaction; if your into talking to random people you will most likely never see by all means dig in. Im not attacking you personally Im just pointing out the flaws in your argument that this is a social game. A social game is minecraft, WOW, second life or COD if you want to get bare minimum but the interaction is there. Here your more likely to have your 250 k HAV stolen out of ignorance of whos it is and in a game that has socialization as the core of its product would allow you to tell that guy to "shove off!" As I said here your more like to be yelling at the rest of the team because the guy who did steel your HAV doesnt have mic chat turned on. Most people who dont have mics dont realize this function exists and is turned off as a default when you first start the game. |

Fin. You will be a lonely player agree lol. Carlito even though I agree with some of your points but it will be damn hard to find people like yourself that doesn't have a girlfriend or kids and can just lock themselves away in a room. I do agree about the music though.
So your saying you would rather not turn your mic off when some loud noise happens, like a child crying for 20 mins. Dog starts barking mute your mic deal with it, simple. I never asked you to seclude yourself to play dust but some intelligence on when the mic is on should be used. For those physically incapable of using the mic mute button seclusion is the only answer |
Im not saying intelligence shouldn't be used but right now we are not graced with option to mute people. You brought up people not talking about things a little off topic, you gotta be kidding me. If you have people red lined an you are bored as hell who gives a damn what people talk about. If someone has a little background noise ask them to mute their mic and don't be a **** about it.
I do this and 9/10 times the person say oh yea no problem and they mute their mic till the noise is gone.
If you red lined it doesnt matter you lost, the point of the post was to point out the fact if your team got butt raped to the red line it was either due to the other team having/using mics effectively or your team not having/using the mics effectively(chit chat, ambient sound). It makes more of a difference then having proto gear the whole time, do you have proof I ask like a **** for people to turn their mic mute on because your right if you ask nicely they will be considerate but the point of the post was to be preventative as opposed to reactionary. I wouldnt make this post if I could mute other people trust me. |
