I think that a system where there is a slot for a melee weapon would allow cool customization. Different melee weapons would have different damage, demand more or less stamina, or take longer/shorter to swing.
For example:
Nova Tomahawk - Longer swing - 1.5% more damage - Uses 1.5% more stamina
That's just my personal dream... |

Yes and its clearly showing *ewww*
Jokes aside (never joke with klingons they might decide that it's a good day to die) i also must say that i'd love to use some other melee weapons beside the knife. like a retractable katana made of segments for example. . . or does anyone know ivy's sword/whip? Damn thats some nice piece of slaughter. Strangle and slash at the same time. |

That sounds horrifieing.
But yeah i'd love to see some better melee weapons or low CPU/PG melee. Even the option to choose none(No melee or fists). It would bring a small bit of extra customisation and optionality. |

I think the best way to handle this would be suits specifically designed to boost melee damage (There is a stat for melee damage on suits, which leads me to believe that's going to be an intended variable). However there are already a bunch of ways to boost the damage of the knife, so those should keep you occupied for a while. |

I can't remember where I saw it, but my understanding was that AUR was so we could buy customization items. So if we can one day maybe buy new colors for our suits then I'd love to see cosmetic changes to the knife. No different stats just a different look when we use it. Of course that probably won't happen but I'd love to bash in a scouts head with a nova mace lol |

Another thread like this already existed. Do a search and you will find it.
Also, not that many people like the idea. They just don't want Dust to become Star Wars Online. |

You can already buy colored suits with AUR |

Sorry, supposed to be 1.50% more, or 150% modifier on the original value. So a knife dealing 2 damage would deal 3 damage instead. |

Don't think they will be added simply because there is not a slot on the dropsuit for a melee weapon. Which there should be so I can remove my knife and put something I will use in its place. |

I don't think they'll have an interchangeable melee weapon. It's kind of built to fit directly into your suit. But it would be nice if some of the new suits had different melee weapons built in.
I could see a faction bloodraider suit with some kind of electrified gauntlet as it's melee weapon. An angel cartel suit with a built in chainsaw of some kind. Sansha suit with an aggressive nanite injector of some kind. Gurista suit with a compression chamber built into the arm for an explosive punch. |

They should just remove melee altogether. You have your main weapon, usually a sidearm, and usually grenades. Aside from scouts moving so fast they break the hit detection and are essentially unkillable, who ever uses melee? Should they really be spending time on this when they could be making new guns instead? |

If you didn't have a nano-hive or supply depot & your ran out of ammo, your only option was a cyanide pill, a swan dive, or a glorious last charge. |

My Scout gets killed plenty by people who know how to lead their shots.
When you line up on a moving target's head and pull the trigger, but miss because they moved, that's NOT the game's hit detection causing the problem. It's because you're aiming in the wrong place. Where they WILL BE, not where they ARE.
As for melee, you know you can upgrade knife handling to level 5 and get a +50% damage bonus right there, then add stacked stimulants on top of that for even more damage, right?
With the ACTUAL hit detection issues, melee is unreliable right now, but fixing that, and giving us more of a damage feedback when we hit things, will make it viable. Adding new weapons (as cool as a sword would be) isn't really necessary. |

Tomahawks, sword, retractale katana, halberd..... Seriously ?
=> A nice enhancement to the nova knife is needed, especially in terms of range of effect. But this has to remain a shooter, not a slasher.... With idea like that, we're gonna end up with One-Shot Melee weapon... So please, cut the crap. |
