We already know that some orbital strikes can be called down by Mercs. But what if inversely, Mercs could send a "shielding ray" from the planet and up into space, protecting the orbiting vessel ?
In the same vein, you could have surface-to-space offensive elements that are launched by mercs and can track / destroy space threats.

What if Mercs could "upload" themselves into a space station that orbits the planet they're at, and man cannons / blasters that would shoot at incoming threats entering the planet's orbit ? Could also be useful when planning an orbital strike, to protect the allied strike force.
[CUSTOMIZABLE BASES]
Instead of fighting on a planet, players could own planetary bases and purchase a variety of "room modules" and decorations, building large installations where corps and mercs would meet. You could even have rooms that simulate a planet battle with virtual weaponry, allowing one to "test" strategies and weaponry.

i would like diffrent kinds of Anit eve things. and i would like them to have diffrent advantages and disadvantage like skyforge being good agianst capital ships, but Anit ship missile for large ships and anti space batterys for smaller ships maybe the defenders could have a Map shield that so long as its up no orbital bombard can come in.

When people build a PI, let me get my clone out and grab a pick axe and mine. That way they know they are getting the best clone labor available to fill their coffers. I'd do it cheap too. |

Anti space guns are already confirmend though i doubt well get to control them on dust as th amount of information that has to cross the bridge between the 2 servers is quite large especally in nullsec were it aint just 3v3 ship combat its 2- 500 vs 2-5000 vs2-500 and that can keep going on and ondepending on where ur at. Yes i have seen unplanned battles where with just 1 side in system player count is already 1500+ add in the opposin side and ur well on ur way to 3000 ofcoarse we see devs come into to system thinking oh **** this is ganna be big and start calling for the server to get buffed. But filling out a form saying to buff part of a server cause theres ganna be a big fight dont work to well so for eve to get translated to dust it just be a mess.
The home sweet home idea of urs i have actually heard rumors of. Though i havent seen devs say yes to merc planet ownership i couldnt possible imagine why not but i would atleast like a hologram system to test new fits for everything.
Something a couple of us have talked about is space combat we know carriers and moms get fighters which according to there discription ispiloted by humans i wouldnt mind seeing some system that allows mercs to pilot them but then again as i said above that would probaly be to much strain for the bridge between dust and eve online |

There's a Skyfire Cannon shown in the background of the current maps, but we can't get to it just yet.
That's the gun that shoots up at ships in orbit.
And firing a shield bubble into space? I don't think it works like that. The game has to be tied (somewhat) to EVE lore, and I'm pretty sure shield boosters and things have a limited enough range that it wouldn't make sense for a planetary installation to do it. |

CCP side something about training and ranges for corporations in DUST, but maybe cross training with EVE as well?! I would be down with that^^ |

For DUST Mercs to have any values, there will have to be an improvement on the kinds of structures that are available to hack and steal and use. Without drive, nobody has value. So we need something that the Capsuleers need to have and then for us to protect it for them... like planetary jump drives

As an Eve player, I want Dust mercs to scare the crap out of me.
Sure, a capsuleer might blow up my ship... But a merc could fly a shuttle into my drone bay and drag me kicking and screaming out of my pod. My fleet would be left wondering my ship is suddenly showing up as abandoned... And the merc would be camping the pod bay, waiting for the next idiot to come along and try to claim the "empty" battleship. |
