"Your a whiner"! Those "clinging", are the ones that stick it out to get things fixed.
... Yo'! Viglin, add me on PSN -- when I get home I'll accept the FR.

No, what is really getting redundant is the same group of people and threads posting up every five seconds reminding us of their dissapointment, or boredom. That is redundant, and quickly getting stale.
I'm not saying that CCP does not need to hurry up with the rate of information and changing of builds, and what mechanics we have access to, but the people here on the forums are especially not helping the current situation by shooting off at the mouth. The negativity and trying to vex the people is not helping at all.

Carilito wrote:Black Ops 2 comes out in November and dust beta is ostensibly competing with Halo 4, COD and that mash-up. If we aren't doing some crazy dust stuff by then the Beta might die to the spread of competition coming out. I know November is dedicated to Black Ops 2 Zombie mode in our house and Dust is gonna have to be pretty interesting make me wanna play something that may very well be a similar build but with corrections and additions. I want to love dust but its getting hard to right now.
First off that sort of thinking is what bothers me most in supposed "gamers". The whole notion that it has to directly be in compitition with another franchise no matter how far apart they are. You know since apparently players and gamers are only allowed to play one title... Sense the sarcasm?
As for Call of Duty, and it's upcoming title from Teyarch -- Call of Duty: Black Ops2 -- the masses need to stop trying to make every new FPS title or sequel a supposed competitor, or Call of Duty killer. It will not happen. Simply because, Call of Duty fills a niche' and it appeals to the majority. Even if people hate it, or dislike the yearly iterations. It still has the majority on it's side, and again fills a very broad niche' that most other games cannot fill, or fail attempting to recreate it. I may not be the biggest supporter of the franchise, and I get annoyed by things too concerning the series.
Halo and more precisely Halo4 is going to be something of the same, but different. New development team and staff, new direction, new plot, and story with all new enemies pertaining to the plot. It's Halo though and considering it's almost completly different in every possible way then Call of Duty it fills it's niche' nicely as well.
CCP on the other hand is trying to create a whole sub genre. Not just some sci-fi shooter. If people would stop allowing themselves to somehow see what they want (mind-matrixing) and actually realized that Dust514 is different from both franchises thing would be that much better. They are however doing something very unheard to the entire industry in many respects, and in a lot of ways in which we have never seen in a title. Just because, at the moment all we've been allowed to play with for the majority are the basic FPS genre mechanics and vehicle play does not mean there is not more to come.
Seriously tired of trying to explain the basics to people. If you have your mind set on something that is on you. Especially since all it takes apparently to entertain you is a fresh coat of paint and a zombie horde game-mode. Congratulations on that. Not bashing on Call of Duty the community is worse then the games ever have been, but stale bread, and/or flat beer still sucks.
I'm not CCP's keeper though, and if people are going to convince themselves, or set their mind on something so be it. I'm not a fanboy, I just happen to see more then the average person. Being calm and rational helps too.
All-in-all? Meh.. I'm going to put my bet on Dust514 for being something that will end up being more different then what is out there and to come (again.) Not everyone has to and in all honesty there is no reason to not play Dust514 as it is at the core -- free -- and no one said you only have to play one damn title. I'll play a title so long as it is good and interesting. Too bad the industry seems set on selling me stale beer, and/or watered down liquor. Still nonetheless Dust514 will find it's own. If CCP can fix issues, run a smooth game, and get it functioning then it will be fine. What I want most from CCP themselves is more information, and to relay that information to "us" the players, and testers. Keeping us in the dark, is putting a lot of strain on us all -- some more then others. |

How so? Zipper and CCP are two completly different developers using different models, and people. The only thing at the moment that CCP needs is to be more open in terms of what is going on with Dust514. Zipper and Sony both failed MAG in the end though. Zipper however chose to divide a community further with more game modes, and fallable DLC (Downloadable Content) which only furth hurt the game. When they then chose to turn the lights off and turn their backs on MAG for SOCOM4 that was the final nails in shutting the coffin on a breathing (albeit hog-tied and gagged) game that still had a chance. Too bad Zipper paid the ultimate price for being so inept... They got shut down. Am I sad? Sure, but they had it coming, and many would agree.
CCP is doing fine enough thus far. Information and communication is my concern at the moment more then anything. We the players and testers are being left with too little to go on. Just more implied hints, jabs, quips, and rumors to go on then anything. I would like to say and believe they are listening, and I really hope, but documentation on what to expect would, or just some words to ease us would be better then what we have now.

I honestly do not care about what other titles are doing from one to another. As for major titles releasing on the PlayStation3 this year we have Call o Duty: Black Ops2, and Medal of Honor: Warfighter if you can even consider that to be a threat (I do not). You are correct though in stating it's the same big-ticket blockbusters that usually fill shelves, and line the pockets of publishers. Which is true. I'm not worried though. Even with Halo4 and PlanetSide2 on the horizons. Trust me I live on odd-jobs, and paycheck-to-paycheck. So I get ya' there as far as tending to real life over the digital world, and drama of the online internet. I just am not that worried. Every game fills a niche' out there, a need, and a fanbase. The only thing I worry about? Sony. Why? Sony sucks at advertising, and always has. If CCP can promise support I'll be less worried, but more so if the support is dependant upon (again) Sony. Sony is my bane when it comes to proper support and advertisment. They just seem to not care. It bothers me a lot actually.
As for Call of Duty: Black Ops2 and it's zombie mode. If it's not a reskin or going to just resell all of the same maps again as packaged bundles of DLC I may be more inclined. Till then? There are a lot of good zombie games around these days. Not that worried, or interested. Again I'm more or less waiting for Call of Duty5. I'm tired of filler, and side stories. Plus not having to deal with the majority of Call of Duty's community and players? That is a huge bonus when not playing the game. I really do not mind the games so much as the players ruin it more or less. Especially those whom cheat, hack, glitch, exploit, or abuse broken mechanics.
If they promised "actual" servers for all platforms and not just PC (where the player number is very, very low) I'd give it a go. Though it would take more then that. I want admins, moderation, arbiters, server support and stability, and most of all? Actual active patching, and fixes to in-game problems. Yeah. |
