In EVE we have Low slots, mid slots and high slots (weapons go here), Rig slots, Capacitor, Power grid and CPU. EVE also have three layers clearly displayed, shields, armour and hull HP. This aspect have been discussed elsewhere, I'll edit later if I find that thread again)
For something as short lived as a merc, the rigs don't make sense, but for the high tier vehicles it might, though I do think that if a MERC is willing to put a rig on a suit, by all means he should be able to. One I can see being popular would be "cargo hold expansion", to be able to carry more ammo...
The real question in my mind is, considering that CCP are already very accustomed to balancing the EVE system, why rewrite all the rules and algorithms for DUST?
For instance the active shield and armour hardeners/boosters/repairers. EVE players are used to turn them on, and only have to pay real attention to their cap when they do, and it is NOT unlimited. DUST is ... alien. |

i think rigs are going to take the form of "skill spikes". Loads of stuff hinted at on the market that is not yet in game.
Gonna be cool to see whats in the next build.

Well, its a lot easier to micromanage things on the PC than o a console, to point and click o several icons and toolbars.
If i was to use a DS3, I would not like to fiddle with turning things on/off as it would take too much time to even navigate the interface.
As you pointed out, mercs are extremely short lived, and most would be dead before even thinking about turning repairers on.
For the sake of Dust playability, I like the way it works now. |

DUST and EVE are inherently different, so while they should be similar, they should also have their differences where it makes sense. |
