If anyone had any doubt, this is an accurate representation of the learning curve in EVE and by extension DUST.

Yep, old, and accurate. Well, only if you flatten the WoW curve a lot. |

ATM. we have like 10% of the entire game.
wait until we have it to say where the skill ceiling lies. Bullshit is bullshit. if the game doesnt live up to its potential, ill be right along there with ya calling it like it is. Fortunately we are still in testing and i cant wait for next build. |

Just calling it like I see it. I know we don't have the full game yet. I am tired of hearing that though. We are here to test and give our opinion on the current build. This current build does not take very much skill or have a steep learning curve at all imo.
The only curve is the SP/grind curve and that has nothing to do with skill or learning the game. I could start a new character and get wrecked by people with better gear. That has nothing to do with skill or the learning. |

and i fully agree dude. im saying that is only the reason because of the limited part of the game we are dealing with. Im trying to get the excitement up for the next build. |

Meh. Learning curves are different from person to person, and from game to game. I think upon release of Dust514 the learning curve will be steepe, and especially in terms of the FPS genre. Atleast that is my opinion. |

You can bet the learning curve will be steep come release time. All the people that have been beta testing dust for months and months will be used to the game and wrecking on the noobs.
That's only if people get good by then though. |

Actually I doubt that we (the testers) are going to be allowed the time or oppertunity to play with everything CCP has intended for Dust514. There are a number of mechanics in which we see hints towards, but still actual footage or idea as to how they will peform or function within Dust514.
I'm very interested in what other game modes we'll see as well in terms of -- Player vs. Player -- and if infact we'll also see some form of -- Player vs. Enviroment -- type gameplay. We have yet to see how districts will play together, and interact with one another for instance, or how salvaging will play out. We'll also all have to adapt to the free market and how that will affect gameplay, and players. I mean honestly there is a lot missing, and probably even more mystery and questions.
In terms of difficulty, and actual learning curve? I think it will be increadibly high in terms of the whole game. Above average if you want nothing more then to play an FPS game as I get the feeling the mechanics that are available to us are still not at all of what CCP has yet to show us, and as the game evolves as a whole the FPS mechanic will only get more difficult especially in terms of how a player will have to adapt to certain situations.
I may be wrong, but I just get the feeling CCP has yet to stock the -- proverbial -- all you can eat buffet if you will. It's still hours away hours away from opening.

Exactly, which is why I roll my eyes at people complaining at the complexity...they would be in for a world of hurt if they tried to play EVE. |

I never found eve complex until I tried to explain it to my friends. They last a day and gave up. I think it depends on what you find "fun" and your fluid intelligence. |

And yet most of EvE's difficulty comes from not finding the correct information from inside the game and from the fact that any player is a potential threat unless you can bust their knees in RL.
Dust as it is now feels like a simplified version of EvE. |

I think DUST514, while a bit more complicated then EVE, is not as hard as EVE by any stretch of the imagination. There is only combat and light amounts of fitting in DUST. Even when it launches with full features, it will still be more simple then EVE by a significant amount (And thank God for that, no FPS needs to be that complicated). A perfect example of this would be DUST514 lacking EVE's unique sensor finesse with probes and triangulation, or economic simulation.
As a fan of EVE, that game is needlessly complicated in some areas (Mainly due to terrible tutorials, easy to learn with a friend who already plays it, horrid by yourself).) |

I'm also tired of seeing people say "it's only a beta and therefore still being worked on". But guess what, it's a necessary thing because unfortunately we have players who are not as bright as you and are coming here to the closed beta expecting to see a "finished demo" based on the ignorant responses they posted.
It appears that a new culture is arising in which the definition of a beta (at least to the ignorant morons who are too lazy to research anything) is basically a game that is a demo and somehow comparable to finished products like CoD, KZ, Halo, MW, BF, etc. that were produced by companies that have waaaaaay more money and resources than CCP (a small Icelandic company) like Infinity Ward, Epic Games, EA Games, and Microsoft Studios. *shudders* |

We are referring to the added fun of having to design your own build, using far more modules than are currently on the market, all while having to select the appropriate skills to achieve those ream builds.
Comparison. I've spent the last 3 months training skills in EVE to be able to fly some great Super Capital builds. Of course, I had 4 years of skill training preceding that, so the three months were just to touch up on some of the more specific modules... |
