Boosters do nothing in the way of in-game advantages. If someone wants to pay some cash for an increase in sp gains that's perfectly fine. There's nothing they can do that you cant with more investment.
Since those complaining about it being pay-to-win will be unlikely to invest money, its fair to ask you to invest time.
This is a game, you should be happy and willing to invest time.
CCP isnt doing this for free, even though you dont have to buy it. |

CCP isnt doing this for free, even though you dont have to buy it. It does have an in game advantage. You get a free drop on everyone on the leader boards. You get more skill points so you are ahead of everyone after the first day of the build. (If you no life it.)The second day you will have even more SP then everyone and it will just snowball after a few days. Pretty soon you are 6th in the world for kills but 1st in the world for SP. Not naming any names LOL.
Its is pay to win to a certain extent but its not even that big of a deal tbh. Ccp has got to make money somehow. |

yeah, i felt this post was important enough to have others read....sorry
this is something people need to understand before shitting on CCP and boosters being pay-to-win.
if you dont invest money its fair to expect a time investment for a AAA free game. A AAA free game tied into EVE. Massive. |

then im assuming you wont take advantage of the free week before release beta testers will allegedly get so you can be fair to the rest of the world?
CCP needs to make money and this is certainly not an unreasonable way to do it. If anything, its the best ive seen in the business.

To me, pay-to-win means that you can't win a game without paying. In Dust, you can win by paying and playing, or just playing. Just my thoughts though. |

I might... It is a pay2win/grind2win advantage. Not even that big of a deal though.(its what 10%?) As I said they gotta make money somehow.
If it was 100% SP advantage I might have a problem with it. 10% though, meh. I don't really care. |

Part of the reason it's less of an advantage than it looks is because you have to spend SPs intelligently to get the full benefit of them.
Skilling up to level 2 - 3 in a large variety of skills costs HUGE amounts more SP than skilling up to level 5 in several skills relating to one particular build. If two players have equal playtime, one uses SP boosters and the other spends the few SPs they earn more sensibly, the player without the booster will still come out on top by specialising.
And as mentioned, investing more time gives the same reward as spending money. pay-to-win only applies when there are things which you don't have ANY free alternative for. People can't (legitimately) cry pay-to-win on MMOs where you can buy level-ups unless the only way to reach that level is to pay for it. This is no different. |

Skill will still trump skill points at early stages of the builds.
Weeks later it will snowball and they will have a distinct advantage. If they are going to play that hard though then I guess they kind of deserve it. People that play dust casually and use boosters will not even be a threat compared to someone who just worked the grind really long and hard (lol) to get where they are. |

lol, the way the diminishing return work right now i think this is all in the numbers for CCP. The diminishing returns, if anything, helps out the people not using boosters with a casual play style. For those who play a lot, i have two things to say:
#1 you are getting so much use out of a free service, you dont have a right to complain about people using boosters after giving up money. If your gonna play so much and not fork out a couple bucks your stingy.
#2 You invest so much time into this game you absolutely deserve having a leg up on the casual gamers. It wont be easy because of diminishing returns, but it can be done. The dedicated players should not have the numbers working against them to where they are not rewarded for their effort. |
